I no my amiga is online but.
« on: January 29, 2015, 06:49:48 PM »
Hello all its been about 7 years since i was last here.
I recently got a CF hard drive with loads of games on from ebay. I now want my amiga on line so i can use telnet etc.

Ive installed the EASYNET software and drivers that i got from amiga kit they installed fine.
(had to install easy net software on a different partition WB partition was full)
every time i connect it says online and tells me theres a update for my software (it must be online as my router reports my amigas ip address)

Every program i tried Aweb,dc telnet etc wont work they run and thats it.

running aweb and typing a address like http://www.google.co.uk says :-

Error cannot resolve host name, entering my routers ip address says the same.

The easy net software says im online and theres a update for my program i click update and it downloads fine

Any ideas?

thanks for your time

Have you tried any other stack than EasyNet? Like Genesis, Miami, or Roadshow?

IMHO you might want to resolve that problem with your Workbench partition being 100% full before you go any further in your troubleshooting.  ;)

Easynet is a pain in the bum to get running, I had the exact same problem but I gave up in the end and ended up using Genesis instead which is on the OS 3.9 disc

I am not 100 % sure but I solved a problem like this by just setting the correct date and time of the workbench. Hopefully that helps You...

Ive got a os 3.9 cd ill give it a go.

would it be better to get another CF card and install fresh install of wb on there. and run it from there?

Is there anyway i could clone my current cf card and put it on a bigger CF card or is that too much hassle ?

thanks for your replies  so far

I'm going to take the hardline approach and say it's better to get a new CF and start with a fresh install of just Workbench. I've seen in the past where sometimes these CF cards that people get off ebay, that come "preconfigured" with a ton of games and other crap, also have lots of stuff on them that can cause problems (for example, "ClassicWB"). Better to start fresh. 3.9 with BB1-4 is great for upgraded classic Miggy's, you don't need any of that other stuff. My .02 cents. ;)

I'm assuming you're on an A1200, or something? You have a CD drive to install 3.9? Once that all is done you can get a PCMCIA-to-CF adapter and just copy the games off the old CF onto the new one. There's all sorts of other ways to install two CF's in your Amiga, as well. Dual card interfaces, cables with multiple ports, etcetera.

Sounds like the DNS server isn't configured, which is normally the same as the gateway address. I don't use Easynet so can't advise how or where you would enter that information.

Easynet is not all that easy, but Amigakit stands behind their offerings, so open a support ticket and ask them to work with you on solving the problem.  Also try pinging your router to see if the stack is working (>ping 192.168.0.1 for example).

I use Roadshow myself: an easy install with one reboot and it is running (unless you can't follow directions)

Is the wb disk full because of validation errors ?   This could be causing issues ?

I had the exact same problem when I was trying to get online with easynet and I was using a standard ide hdd. If you have the OS 3.9 disc just run the genesis installer and use that instead.

.

I would NOT recommend for you to use Boing Bag 3 or 4. Stick with official BB 1 and 2 from Amiga.
