Dare I guess that 180 AROS users need to cough up money in advance to even get you to try compile it for AROS?
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

Are you deriding free / open source in some way? Only there's a tonne of non-open souce software on those two operating systems, Far more so than AmigaOS, so if you really dont want to stick linux or windows your choice of proprietary software is going to be severely hindered.

Just what did you mean by that comment?

Let me ask you this;

How much development would you expect to be done on Aladdin4d if noone acquired it?

Same goes for Octamed StudioSound and Personal Paint; been left derelik for decades, so if someone like AeonKit decides to buy the rights to continue develop utility programs on AOS (and possibly other platforms)
Id say its a good thing. For those that dont need a upgraded/changed version, they probarly already got the software installed/saved on harddrives/disks or just need to "google" it.
Recouping costs seems natural if they plan to acquire and develop several titles. And by the looks of it, we are probarly in for more suprises.
(ofcourse we dont know what plans AeonKit got for A4d)

That is not what I meant. Besides, I never used Personal Paint or Aladdin4D or OctaMED. I did not buy PPaint because I dont use it but if I needed I could consider buying a tool I need. It is not problem.

I just found Everblue's comment funny.

(whaaaaa, you edited out the question to me while I wrote this)

Me? Nothing.

For the most part I use computers for "officework" and workrelated training (CBTs-Computer Based Training).

Doesnt change the fact that upgraded software and acquiring rights seems to cost manhours. Im not blind to that fact just because I personally wont have any use for it.
Personal Paint I could find use for. Good PDF editor and officepackage with a good "powerpoint" presentation features, and Im personally set.

But not everyone is as boring as me. Plenty of creative people around, that I would assume welcomes updated versions that works flawlessly on their favorite OS (whatever that may be).

That IS the big question, wether or not they have manpower to actually upgrade the software beyond making them running 100% stable on AOS4.x (and other Amiga related platforms).

Would actually be intresting to hear a general comment about what plans they have with the different programs/utilities.

I am sure they wish to develop it further. But it is quite large package and developing such beast is more like full time job. Then it would not hurt if you had some interest to modelling and rendering and have knowledge about other similar packages what they can do.

It is tough.

Reason why development of these software packages was stopped... not enough demand, not enough users, not enough money. H&P claim they sold 15000 AmigaOS copies in late 90s. Now try to relate that figure to this day, 15 years later and you see it has not get better in that regard. User base is smaller than it was when this software was maintained.
