« on: December 01, 2014, 08:36:51 PM »
The new official website of PPaint for the Amiga is now online:  www.ppaint.com

This website provides a digital download payment page for the latest Classic AmigaOS 3 version of PPaint 7.3 for users who do not have access to AMIStore App Store.

It also hosts the latest information on developments, screen shots about Personal Paint.  In the near future, update information and support pages will be added.

Note that existing AMIStore users who have purchased PPaint 7.3 OS4 version should use the app store to download the OS3 version for a cross platform special price (excludes gift purchases for others).

I thought that PPaint was released in the public domain a while back, so how come it's now been shanghaied and is now a commercial product?

I might be wrong...

At about $25.00 USD, this is a fair deal with the new features. This may surprise people who know me, but I am behind this one 100%.

@motrucker

Thanks for your support!

In financial terms, this project is currently is the "red" at this point in time, so I did the fine calculations and we need to get a total of 486 licences sold to get back to zero (break-even) point.  Anything above that would represent a surplus which would be welcome of course :)

There will be more cost of course in the months ahead when we commission incremental updates to version 7.5- we intend these updates to be free of charge for every customer that has bought 7.3 :)

7.31 is the next planned development milestone.

I haven't used any of my amigas for awhile but if I get my A1XE going again when 4.1FE is released, I'll probably buy a copy for it.

Graphics programmes haven't really been my thing but a new hobby won't do any harm. :-)

The reason I bought this now and in the past is because this software is excellent for pixel art, I use it mainly to do 32x32 and 64x64 sprites :)

So I will keep buying future versions :) whatever my stance is on the older versions and availability I still support this software.

Keep up the good work, price is fair and I hope you reach the sell goal :)

@som99

Thank you,  I hope this software continues to grow in the way that makes your work easier.  If you have suggestions for enhanced tools which would be useful in creation of sprites, let us know.

Andy Broad is commissioned by A-EON Technology for the development.  A-EON has purchased PPaint Amiga from Cloanto so now A-EON is responsible for all development with PPaint on the various Amiga platforms.

Cool thank you for keeping the old version free. When I have money again, I'd also like to update, or when a MorphOS update becomes available! :)

Just curious what is your plan for releasing updates?  I.e., since the Amiga doesn't really do "automatic updates", will you just be sending an email to registered users when there's a new build available for download, then they'll grab an .lha off a secured webserver or something?  Thx! :)
