Amiga 3000 PS Replacement Fan

Looking for a replacement fan for my A3K... the standard one is way too loud.  character yes, but I'd prefer it to be more on the silent side.

Does anyone know of a direct replacement i.e. what size or more specifically a model number of a known replacement would be great.

One with LED's could be cool too but I could live without that.

Quality quiet fans don't tend to have LEDs; that being said, I did replace an A3000 2 years ago with a quiet one from Newegg, but there are lots of sites selling good spec'd fans.  I can't remember the size, but just measure in with a metric ruler.

You need to balance airflow (CFM) with noise (dB).

A) Noctua is an excellent fan.
B) A noise <21 dB is D_amn quiet
C) 25mm width is about an inch (2.54 Cm to an inch), which if fine if it fits.

So, sounds like a good choice/recommendation.

This is the one I just bought and put in my A4000D's PSU, it's really quiet and should go faster if heat rises.  It has a nice temperature sensor built in, which I just put in the middle of the heat sink.

Also, I haven't done testing with the case on yet (hopefully I'll get the IDE terminator today and will be able to put the lid back on, at which case I'm going to use my temperature prober to see how hot everything gets.)

Also, if you have an older CD-Rom drive, the one that I got with my A4000D was loud as hell, replacing that with my old SATA Plextor drive reduced noise tremendously.  Though oddly with the two IDE->SATA bridges I tested, neither would work with the onboard IDE, but did work with my FastATA 4000.

Which tends to run hotter, the 4000 or the 3000?

Oh, and an additional note, the other fan I had tested was supposedly rated really low, but I think they were referring to if it was plugged into a modern system, and the motherboard could control the fan speed, because it was running full speed in the Amiga and still very loud.  It's a Nexus SP802512H-03.

Go with the noctua, they are excellent fans, i use them in my Amigas. quiet and good cfm.

mechy is on it. High cfm is important because that air also cools the expansion cards, only fan in there.
