As I recall they can only number up to AOS5 so if they only call it a new version every .1 they can only upgrade it9 more times! They must charge for every .05 or so.

Will the Installation media have all versions of the OS on it or will we have to pay for separate Pegasos II, BPPC, A1 versions?

There doesn't seem to be limitation or conditions relating to what version numbers they can use.

The only part relating to version numbers that I can see (I may have missed something) is part d. under definitions.
Quote
d.  "AmigaOS 4" means the Operating System developed by Hyperion and based in part on the Software, including without limitation the Software Architecture of the Software as described in the Documentation, in any version (irrespective of version numbering, e.g., AmigaOS 5).

Perhaps my interpretation is incorrect but it seems to imply that they can used version numbers 5 and beyond.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as before so you'd have seperate versions for each platform but it is DRM free so if for example you owned 2 Sam440's you can install it on both systems without restriction.

there are separate CDs for each platform, but since you have to pay for every machine you have anyway, it doesn't really matter. of course i'd rather there be the ability to purchase a single CD and then licenses on top of that so i don't have piles of CDs about. but then again i suppose not many people have many NG amigas, er, well, um, i don't know. anyway....

there are separate CDs for each platform. :)

It is like a couple of beers, 2 snusboxes (Swedish tobacco, or say two packs of smokes) and then eating a Pizza here in Sweden :D

not to mention more healthy :)

OK, is this 4.1 FE designed for people to purchase that don't have next gen hardware or BlizardPPC/CyberstormPPC?

Like for example, would this allow me to run it legit of I wanted to do so on my overclocked i5 under UAE?

WinUAE is not officially supported by Hyperion, if it works or not has to be tested, the different versions of AmigaOS4.1/4.0 did not come out at the same time, make sure to buy the correct version (classic).

If you buy it, you own it, if you do not have BlizardPPC/CyberstormPPC you might need to find the ROM file for that somewhere on the internet, so legal you might get problems with bplan/DCE or some company like that, but I doubt it. Its abandonware the roms are not sold anymore so has no commercial value.

At one point I did own a BlizzardPPC with g-rex :)

long time ago :)

They should make it part of Amiga Forever premium or something to get some exposure... but like you say the stupid ROM...

First: I will for sure be purchasing this, to show support and encourage further development.

But I need to know where, when, and if it will work on my Classic Amiga. Is anyone sure of this?

Also, is there anything in it that is not in OS4.1 + update 6? In other words, stuff that is not coming in through AmiUpdate?
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

Yes.

As for whether it will work, if non-FE works, then there's no reason why FE won't.

Couple of weeks ago Acube told me that Hyperions had shipped the discs to them and were on the way. Maybe that statement was greatly exaggerated.

@everblue

I suspect your feelings are correct...

Be nice if someone with "authority" would clear things up. My Missus is hoping to spend some Christmas money on me at Amigakit.

Well I was planning to buy a Sam460CR... but the more time passes, the less I feel like it.
