Amiga to PC monitor video adaptor
« on: February 17, 2004, 09:43:02 AM »
I have just bought one of those adaptors off Ebay, most of you will probably have seen it up for grabs. The door bell went at 9am and I recieved it. I wasted no time and tried it out, but the PC monitor is saying: *Attention Signal frequency is out of range, please change signal timing*
Can anyone tell how I'm suppose to do this? I thought you just plugged them in and that was that.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

You still need to select a video mode that is capable of configuring
the correct frequencies for use with a PC/VGA monitor. Try multiscan, DBLPAL,
DBLNTSC or "Euro 72". If you're still having problems, try using the "VGAOnly"
patch (it needs to be in devs:monitors, you may find it in storage/monitors).

For old games and the like, your best bet is a "scandoubler"...that will convert
the standard amiga display frequencies into something compatible with a
VGA monitor.

Thankyou, but what I am saying is, I plugged the adaptor in and don't even get a choice to do anything; because its not recognising the connection between the two.
I'll tell ya, I should be in the Amiguiness book of records for the person with the most worst luck. Do I need software to build the connection?

First of all, you have to connect a TV through the RF-connector on the back. Next, you plugin your monitor to the monitor.
Now, you can start the machine, find your way to the poreferences-drawer using the TV, and thenb select the video-mode of choise.

The connection will be fine. The reason you aren't even getting a choice is because Workbench is booting in an incompatible 15KHz screenmode (compatible with Amiga monitors and TV's, but not with PC monitors), but the daft thing is that you need to be able to see Workbench in order to choose the compatible VGA screenmode in the first place, but since you can't see Workbench, you can't select the screenmode!  You might have to run your Amiga through a TV and through the PC monitor at the same time, then select the screenmode on the TV, which should then make it come through the monitor!

Are you wanting to play games or just use WB apps?

Yeah, I know they won't let you play games. Its just for apps really. So pray tell, What do I need to be able to play ALL the old faves games on my PC monitor? Do I have to get a scan doubler thingymajig contraption?

Most games default to the Amiga screenmodes, but most games that play on the workbench screen should work.

Yup... you need a SD , even better a Scan Doubler / flickerfixer then you have more chance of using the interlaced mode's on WB.

Cheers

Right then, I've decided to once again dip into my credit card and go for it. Can anyone please show/tell me the exact one to get? That is the ficker fixer/scan doubler for my 1200 to PC monitor.
I've seen a few on Eyetech but I don't follow their board setup. I click on a specific information picture and the same picture comes up for loads of stuff. The web site wants some time spending on it as its very poorly presented.
They would have had my custom on lots of occasions only for the website being un-navigable. Maybe if they read this they will make improvements.

Yes....good question! Can anyone please suggest a good sd/ff that is still commercially available? I am interested in one as well - even if it has to be from eyetech...

I have nothing against eyetech but I have to agree with Pete, this website they have is simply unacceptable - especially for a company that is delivering the next gen amigas....

I would have bought so many stuff off them had it not been for that awful website of theirs....you really have to get into the mindset of the 10-year-old who designed it and even then what you are really buying is almost a guess

I hope they do get their act together soon because I like their stuff
