Epson smd 1300 3.5" FDD on amiga?

Hi all I have found one of these drives lying around in my junk (that's what the wife calls it) and I am wanting to know if it can be used with an Amiga? If it can what modifications do I need to do in order for it to work?

From a quick google search it appears that that is just a standard generic PC high density floppy drive.  With the correct adapter you should be able to use it on an Amiga as a double density drive, but no guarantees.

Ian Stedman's device sticks out about an inch in back but does a perfect job -- I own three of them.  Although a new drive from AmigaKit is quite reasonable. ;>)

You can do some soldering on the drive itself. this works for most pc floppy drives:

1- Set the unit as DS0, instead of DS1 (pc floppy drive standard)-many have jumpers for this.
2- Route the 34 pin trace to pin 2 and cut it from 34 (do this at the 34pin floppy connector)
3- Join pins 30 & 34.

On the ones I have done I had to move the DC/RY jumper to RY. Does the joining 30 to 34 replace that step on drives that don't have the DC/RY jumper?
