Amiga 500 ide?
« on: August 19, 2014, 04:07:42 AM »
Is this addide thing I've heard about for amiga 500 still made?

I need one for my amiga 500 tower project...

Someone give me links if it can still be purchased please?

The amiga 500 motherboard has 3.1 roms already... So its ready for the ide upgrade I think?

I was going to get an aca500 but I have a 68020 68000 socket based accellerator... and I'd prefer the tower have a cd-rom drive for my fred
fish cd's and aminet cds...

Best regards,

Steven

Amiga Buddha IDE controller  1997 version

"Buddha IDE controller"?! This is only for big box Amiga's with Zorro II slots.
This will not fit on the A500 motherboard, unless you use some sort of Zorro II slot adapter.

I'm sorry but I'm afraid that your only option is kipper2k's 8mb ram + ide, wich woun't allow cd-rom because it ide uses cf slot. Another thing is will you 020 accelerator work with it?

ACube Sam 440ep Flex 800mhz, 1gb ram and 240gb hd and OS4.1FE
A1200 Micronic tower, OS3.9, Apollo 060 66mhz, xPert Merlin, Delfina Lite and Micronic Scandy, 500Gb hd, 66mb ram, DVD-burner and WLAN.
A1200 desktop, OS3.9, Blizzard 060 66mhz, 66mb ram, Ide Fix Express with 160Gb HD and WLAN
A500 OS2.1, GVP+HD8 with 4mb ram, 1mb chip ram and 4gb HD
Commodore CDTV KS3.1, 1mb chip, 4mb fast ram and IDE HD

Many A500 IDE controllers will tap in the 68000 socket.
Like for example the Vampire-500 does it.
This will conflict with your 020 accelerator most of the times ...

There is still a plain jane IDE add-on that plugs into the 68000 socket without the RAM, but with the RAM is nice.

If you're looking for just IDE, check out the cfide68K.

One caveat, it won't autoboot unless you're using 2.0X rom or higher.

BTW, the adide is not made anymore.

If you're putting it in a tower, how about a 90 degree connector for the edge connector, and use one of the sidecars that supports IDE? (removed from it's case, of course) I think I saw someone do something like this previously. +1 to likelihood of anything you put in the 68000 socket conflicting.  Of course I'm having a hard time picturing exactly what you're trying to do, maybe I need more coffee, lol. ;)

How about a 90 degree connector plus a slingshot plus a buddha?  Or a 90 degree connector plus an ACA500?

Looks like aca500 would be the easiest option... (plus allow accellerator)

I suppose the tower doesn't really NEED a cd-rom drive. Would be nice but I can
just as easily just transfer anything I have on cd to cf cards...
