"Earlier this week, the gaming community threw a hissy fit when 2K announced they’re bringing the FPS classic BioShock to iPad. Maybe the more mature gamers who grew up on the Amiga will be more appreciative of the announcement Wings! Remastered Edition is coming to PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices later this year.

For those who don’t remember (or just don’t know), Wings! allows players to experience the rush and glory of a WW1 Allied fighter pilot. Originally developed by Cinemaware and now published by Kalypso Media, Wings! Remastered Edition takes the original gameplay of the flight combat hit Wings! and recreates it HD and with a completely re-recorded orchestral soundtrack. Wings! Remastered Edition challenges players to enter arcade style dogfights, take on daring strafing and bombing missions, and survive to the end of the First Great War."

I am one of the Kickstarter members who backed the remake of Wings HD, and I have the beta installed and running on my laptop right now.  I wish they had enhanced it even further, instead of recreating it so faithfully to the original, but that is just me.  The release of Wings HD on Windows & MacOSX should be not too far into the future, and now that Kalypso Media has purchased the distribution rights, they will be making it available in retail stores as well, when released.

There is a very short time still where people who backed the Kickstarter project funding can upgrade their level to include beta testing, but soon that option will go away with the completion of the purchase & distribution agreement by Kalypso Media.
