happy birthday, amiga
« on: July 23, 2014, 04:25:21 PM »
friends,

it's really amazing that after twenty-nine years since the announcement of the amiga 1000 there are still so many enthusiasts of the platform, its hardware, its follow-ons, and its derivatives.  i know of no other platform that has lived so far beyond what anyone could have reasonably imagined would have been the end in 1994 with the death of commodore.

amidst all of the in-fighting, the scams, the noise, and the drama, there still exists a few thousand of us, still clinging to what we all know to be the most enjoyable computing platform alive.

take a moment today as the amiga begins the second day of its twenty-ninth year just to pause and enjoy what you have, be it a 1200, a 3000T, minimig, SAM, a PC running UAE, an X1000, or whatever. give it a hug. for whatever flavor you enjoy, to quote trevor: 'let's keep this party going.'

happy birthday, amiga. :drink:

Yeh, really happy birthday to our beloved Amiga. Incredible how time is running. Having a little sad feeling, when I realise it's so far away now this bright moment of it all.. But anyway couldn't say it better than eliyahu posted, so thanks mate!

Ok folks... let's party like it was still 1985 (actually 1986 but anyway)

Love that cover :D

I got that program just a couple of days ago. Would have been great way to celebrate the anniversary running that, but unfortunately I had no time. I did had a quick round of Parasol Stars in an emulator, though. And I have been planning building a 10Base2 coaxial network for my Amigas as I have just got another Ariadne board for my 3000T...

Anyway, happy birthday Amiga! Next year it's going to be a big one!
Commodore KIM-1, PET-2001, CBM 8032, CBM 8050, CBM 8250LP, D9060, VIC-20, C64, C64c, 1541, 1541-II, 1571, 1581,
Amiga A1000, A1060 Sidecar, A500, CDTV, CD32, 1084S, A1200, A1200 Magic Pack from Petro, ex-custom-case A3000T (now a complete A3000T), repaired A4000T and looking for more :)

I remember back in the Elder Days hearing rumors about this new computer coming that could do "saturday morning quality" computer animation. It was still secret then, and we were always trying to worm info out of the people on the CIS Atari forums who had seen one but were blocked by NDAs. Hmmm.... sounds like not much has changed. ;-)
