A loser on ebay
« on: June 06, 2014, 10:48:00 PM »
Don't bother doing business with customsg because he/she/it won't follow through with the deal.

Sold this person an Amiga software package for the princely sum of 99 cents.  They never paid, never responded to any emails, NOTHING!

Opened a case with ebay and, of course, all they did was send an email requesting I be paid.

If this person is on this board, are your such a LOSER you can't afford 99 cents?

Definitely a waste of time.

Yeah, it sucks when people do that :( But why waste your time with selling something for 99 cents? Just give it away. Still sucks, of course, even when it's about 99 cents. Or perhaps especially when it's about 99 cents. The realization that there are people who will screw someone for 99 cents :(

And don't buy anything from 'airey' at amiga retro, he is a con artist and does not give %&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@!%&$#?@! about amigas or his customers.

I've never had any issues with airey36, I've bought several items off him in the past and his prices are reasonable compared to some rip off merchants on ebay.

Even went out of his way to find a couple of items for me which I appreciate.

In the past I've weighed up the time/effort/return/possibly could be doing something else balance...and decided to give stuff away, or throw in the bin - yes, shock horror, Amiga items :D

But, you're right, 99c or $99, it's still apparentely a contract. And sometimes you've gotta pick your battles. Sometimes you win by not even fighting.

+1 for good words for airey. Never had a problem and I've bought from him in the UK to me in Australia probably over a dozen times now. And the general consensus seems to be that he is a good seller based on most things I've read :D

Oh wow, sorry you had a bad experience with him. I had just the opposite - found him friendly, helpful, and his prices reasonable. The only thing I didn't like was the shipping from the UK to the US, but that was to be expected for the size parcel he sent me. (I purchased a full A500 with a big box of floppies, two game controllers, and assorted Amiga hardware.) As a matter of fact, he was so amiable, and patient with my questions, I would even go so far as to call him a friend.

Doesn't sound like a crook to me, he may have dropped the CD changer. You never know.

Reimbursement always seems to take awhile, especially with credit cards. Paypal tends to take awhile to.

I would call him a crook if he didn't refund the money though.

Actually, what he doesn't have is the 99c he is entitled to :D

Whatever else he does or doesn't have is irrelevant and a matter of opinion - and of course you're entitled to your opinion. Do you have any idea what 99c means to the OP? Do you know the full story behind the 99c?

I've bitched to people who owe me $10 before - it's amazing how the lender is always the c*&t! It's never the borrower that is the c*&t when it isn't paid back! But we had an agreement. And I didn't need the money back. But I was owed it. And when I got it, I donated it to a charitable cause. The $10 meant so much more to someone else/other people that I didn't even know, than it did to me. It almost certainly saved multiple lives!

Only 99c huh?

The tables could also be turned the other way! Instead of "It's only 99c, so get over it"...why not "It's only 99c for f*&k sake - just f*&(ing pay it!"?

I have discovered that there are two types of Amigans.

Those who are happy to buy anything Amiga-related such as the X1000 even if it is a overpriced piece of junk and those who complain about 99 cents. Sad but true!

BTW please reveal your eBay username so members can avoid such a grouch.

Yeah, I haven't had any issues with him either.. i've bought lots of games from him and some hardware... he's ok to deal with, reasonable and most of his prices are reasonable as well...

Just trying to let people know about a bad buyer.  Next time it might not be a paltry 99 cents.  Could be something more significant.

Not trying to hide a thing.

My ebay username is mcmccain.

As far as being a grouch.  Yeah, a bit.

However, I hate people who make a contract, even for a measly 99 cents, and refuse to honor it.

I got a pile of programs in a deal which I don't really want or need.  Just trying to recover my investment.  I've noticed if I slap a huge price on something, a lot of time it just doesn't sell.  Start low, and things tend to work better.  Eventually, I'll get my investment back, but when someone won't even honor a 99 cent contract...

I've actually discovered there are more than 2 type of Amigans.

1. Love the machine and try to promote it.
2.  Love the machine but want to bash absolutely anything that isn't classic.
3.  Love the machine and want to help it evolve.
4.  Love the machine, but hate all other people and will bash anybody and everybody any chance they get.

I try to be in 1 and 3 groups.  Everybody is welcome to their opinion.

So Megamig, where do you fit in?
