So after experimenting and trying various RAM and following some forum advice the below brand and type works with no issues.

Thanks for the post.  A couple of things though. Just becuase that ram works for you doesnt mean for everyone as the firmware revision makes a difference on peg2. Id also like to know wtf you are gonnna do with 2gb as well :)

IIRC, you can have 2 GB only if you have a rev. 2B5 Pegasos II board...

I'd check with a memtester to make sure it's working properly...

Mines a 2B2, loaded up a few programs all working. So will keep testing it, will let you know if it fails :-)

Not sure what I'll do with 2GB, although I notice with 1GB you only seem to have 98XMB free on boot.

I have a 9000 Pro 128bit/128MB and a 9800 pro (no 3d for AmigaOS but MorphOS is fine... of course no Warp3d on either) on the way. The 9200 is too slow, although will be using the ATI BIOS editing tool and over clocking it that way in a PC as there's no tools for AmigaOS to do the samething.

:-)

Good times :-)

Of course there's always PPC linux :-) Many ways to use the extra RAM.

The revision is printed on the motherboard itself... it should say 2Bx where x goes from 1 to 5...

The firmware can be upgraded but I'd do that very carefully.. you can get your Peg 2 a brick... there used to be a firmware link in the bplan website for the pegasos II but I doubt it's still there...

http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/flash_update_for_pegasos_ii_en.html

But... I'd think twice about it is as it is possible to break the Peg board. As is with any BIOS/flash up date.

I've been thinking about it but it doesn't tell you much on the website as to release date etc...

This is also how the Articia S was deemed "flawless" in some circles...

So the BIOS up050404 firmware is 1.1er not 1.2 so not worth flashing as my board is using 1.2.

...which seems very fair and reasonable for a Pegasos 2, and this is probably your max limit (depending on HW revision)! You can't look at the Peg through a pair of "PC world" glasses, where all kinds of makes of memory modules usually work, and if they don't, you just "update the firmware" and everything will be fine.

Lurch seems to be using the same RAM modules Genesi used when they were selling ODW's equipped with 2GB (but AFAIK, those particular systems were all 2B5's):
