« on: May 08, 2014, 04:33:14 AM »
On my 2000 I try to use DH0 and it says disk not a boot type or in disk master. but if IF I use my external drive DH2 ( missing 1 drive in computer) it will
read the same disk and disk master will let me see whats on it. has my main drive gone bad?
Thanks

Make a diskcopy from the external to the internal drive.  Use the copy in that drive instead of the original.  If it works then it shows that your internal drive might be slightly out of alignment from your other drives.  might just need cleaning though, you can try that.  Something else is that the floppy might be going bad and the external drive has better luck with reading it than the internal.

I would first clean the heads with a disc cleaner (made for that purpose) available from many places including Amigakit.  If it is out of alignment, aminet has a program with instructions for just that purpose that works quite well.  However the heads do go bad and quit reading.  You may be able to just pull you external floppy drive from its case and put it in your A2000 with no modification -- brand dependent.   Otherwise Amigakit sells $30 USD floppy drives.

Please note: "DH0" = Drive Hard (0); "DF0" = Drive Floppy (0)
