How do I know what revision my card is then?
Look on the realtek chip on the card. more than likely the number will end in a,b,c,d. It may also be noted on the pcb somewhere.

It ends in D, according to the elbox website a/b/c/d cards are compatible? I'm guessing it also depends on the vendor?

What  kind of error do you get then?

How does the output from pciinfo looks like?

Some users have reported that they had to put the voodoo/nic in a particular order but i have never experienced that, i have my GFX in the lowest slot and then the nic.

The Error I get is "OpenDevice: Unknown error" .

The only card that shows up in pciinfo is the Radeon ?

Even the cards that did not work for me showed in pci info. Not sure what the trouble is, but if you have the cards in the recommended order and the card is known good,it should see something in pciinfo. Unfortunately even though the mediator list says its compatible, you're card could be a china knockoff, the firmware could have still been different than the "D" they tested, etc etc.  i have gotten some dlink cards off ebay for cheap that work fine. you always take a chance however.  you are using fastethernet.device right?

I remember having the same problem when I tried to use a network card with my Mediator SX, but I found some instructions on the net which told me to insert the network card in the first slot, and the Voodoo in the last. I did this and got things working.

Currently, this is how my Mediator is set up:
Slot 1: Network card
Slot 2: Soundblaster
Slot 3: TV card
Slot 4: Voodoo

Pciinfo reads the PCI device IDs from the cards installed and checks it against the vendors list and reports to you what cards are installed.  If it's not reporting back the card details then it suggests the card may be defective.  Try the card in another system to see if it works or is recognised.

I had a bad fast ethernet card from Elbox. I bought another for $5 off e-bay and it works fine. Make sure you are using the newest drivers. The MM CD I received had old drivers. I recall that the old fastethernet.device on the CD didn't work. The ones off the Elbox website worked though. This was several years ago though so maybe things have changed.

Ok so my Ethernet card arrived from amigakit and I have it installed, it is recognised by PCIInfo and I have installed Easynet (it came with the card) but I am unable to connect to the internet, I am using the FastEthernet.device driver etc.. but I am still not able to get online. I have attached some photo's with my current settings.

Ok so I have completely given up on easynet and decided to install Genesis instead and is working fine now, I was hoping for it to be quicker than what it is but atleast it's up and running.

I had problems with the original Easynet (AmiTCP 3.2b) switched to Miami and then to Roadshow (very easy setup-- 2 steps and reboot).  Glad you got it working (although I believe Genesis is AmiTCP too).

Genesis is known for being one of the fastest Amiga stacks. It can be tweaked for speed (bigger packet size?) also. There is also the packet fix which I use with Genesis:

http://aminet.net/comm/tcp/AmiTCP_PacketFix.lha

You may already have it patched if using the unofficial BoingBags.

I'm surprised the new easynet doesn't work with the same settings. The biggest difference is a different GUI.

If Genesis works then Easynet should be the same. However I'm a huge advocate of Roadshow, fast and easy to install.

Downside is you have to buy it, but I see it as supporting the Amiga scene :-)

Necrobumping a thread.

I had a problem too with the 8139, and then I found this old crusty guide:

http://web.archive.org/web/20050427070424/http://ext.neostrada.pl/network/network6.shtml.htm

For me, the issue was the autodetect was turned on.  When I turned it off, everything started working.
