I Released an EP!
« on: January 27, 2014, 12:01:50 PM »
Not strictly Amiga news - but I thought this might be of interest to those
of us who are like chiptune inspired music ...

Last year I started working on a "chiptune" inspired EP titled "Secret Level"

Last night I released it on Soundcloud as a free to download package.

https://soundcloud.com/polyp/sets/polyp-secret-level-ep

and if you want there is a free download including the artwork and
inlay notes.

You can download the package here!

http://www.polyprecords.co.uk/downloads/Polyp%20-%20Secret%20Level%20EP.zip

It includes a couple of remixes by "PERSONA1600" and "Kid Nineties"

plus a bonus track "No More Life"

Please check it out and I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for the support!

Digging yours man, good stuff! Been hearing a lot of retro/old-tech/chiptune people lately and makes me want to fire up Octamed again :)

Octamed is what got me really started! (Although i did have some great times on the c64 with music maker+overlay and dabbled with Ubiks Music)!

Im a Renoise boy now - that is until Bitwig is released!

What music software are others using these days?

Thanks for posting Polyp - enjoyed listening to all the tracks on very much! :)

I started off with the keyboard overlay on C64 and had fun with that till the Amiga came along...and then for me it was Sonix, and Protracker that got me going, which later became Octamed or (MED) at first because of the midi capabilities.

Nowadays on the PC plod, I have Soundstudio MED, for mix old SS Octamed tracks with the use of soft sythns - But as far as tracking goes on the PC I note down ideas on Madtracker - It's a shame it's been discontinued, although it is now an open source project.

Regards and salutations! :)

Thanks - Im checking out your stuff now!

What software / equipment do you use? Is the Amiga still part of your set-up?

Im interested in hearing what kind of stuff other Amiga users are using?

I still have my A1200 which I've souped up with an accelerator , CF card and Indy MK2. I was planning on archiving a lot of my old tunes. Unfortunately many of the discs are corroded with blotches. So i was only able to rescue some of them :( . Id got some great samples too which are mostly lost in the sands of time. Back in the day i used to sample profound lines from radio 4 plays and incorporate them into my music. I remade one track (Now named "Doors of Perception). I dont know if anyone remembers me from back in the day - I used to post tracks on the Octamed forums. Its possible it would be familiar to some of you!

Thanks!

Nick

Thanks for the follow! I'd like to experiment with integrating my old a1200 (yes i still have mine from back in the day too) I used to use Octamed, but i was quite young, didn't know anything about music and was hopeless at it... probably still am;)

today i just use FLstudio on a win7 machine.

I use a Mac currently running Logic 9.
Everything is done by hardware, mostly analogue or hybrid synths though I do have some pure digital stuff as well.  I also have a modular which is a mixture of analogue and digital modules.

Back in the day I didn't do any music myself, my use of Octamed was loading a mod and pressing play!  That said I did write some processing/synth software and I wrote an article or two for the pre-internet "Total Irrelevance" diskmag (now that dates me!).

My Amiga isn't part of my setup but I do plan on doing something retro - I also have a C64 and a pair of Atari 2600s for this.  I have an idea for a track that uses the old machines.  One day I'll get around to recording it.

BTW I'm also sometimes known as Mefistophelees...
