The A2065 has an old-style BNC connector and an old-style AUI connector. So you're right, the transceiver plugs into the AUI port and provides a standard modern RJ-45 port.

A stock 3000 should be fine for some basic networking. Roadshow is the only commercial solution currently available and it should work nicely on your setup. There's no GUI, though. AmiTCP v4 will be available again sometime soonish from AmigaKit. I use MiamiDX, which unfortunately can't be registered anymore. It's very easy to use (and the demo will probably suffice for your purposes) but it is the slowest of the Amiga TCP/IP stacks. Again, though, that may not matter for your purposes.
