Amiga 2000 and Kickstart v2.05 (37.350)
« on: January 13, 2014, 12:20:41 AM »
I just pulled this Kickstart v2.05 (37.350) 391304-02 ROM chip from A500.

I want to install it in my A2000 but I'm getting conflicting information..

As you can see this chip is jumped between pin 1 & 31....

Some people say this chip is compatible with the A500/A1500/A2000.
Others.. "the MX Rom works fine with a non soldered connection between pin 1 and 31." Some also say.. " I can now confirm that I have an KS2.05 rom working in my A2000 with an Model A rev 4.0 motherboard. My KS is jumped between pin 1 & 31."

I guess, I just want to make sure before I install it..

Anyone have experience with Amiga 2000 and Kickstart v2.05 ?

Rev 4 (original German design) A2000s need the jumpwire for KS 2.x+ ROMs.

Rev 4.x (US design, CR version) B2000s do not. Neither do rev 6.x's of course.

So, unless you do have one of those very early German A2000's, desolder the wire.

I do have the US design B2000-CR Rev 4.3 .... So, the information I found are all correct. Thank you for making sense of this...

It worked, My A2000 just moved up one full Rev within the Kickstart hierarchy..:biglaugh::laugh1:

It sounds like a nice Amiga from your other thread.  Some scattered thoughts.

I would be tempted to advance the A2000 to KS3.1, OS3.1 and return KS2.04 to the A500.  You will have better tools to format a HD than 1.2 had.

Did your HD show up?  Some hard drive controllers in A2000s also needed their Roms updated if the motherboard's KickStart rom is updated.

Are you familiar with the BetterWB package?

Well, I just finished dealing with the HD issue but I still have some questions and will ask them on the other thread.. The good news is , the drive did show up.:)
