Choosing the graphics card when installing Picasso96

I'm installing Picasso96 v2.1 over a 2.0 installation and have added a Radeon card to my A4000 Mediator.

During the installation the Installer asks what graphics card I have, listing the many Amiga graphics card options, but not listing Radeon.

Which should i select?

follow the elbox gfx card instructions on install for the radeon. they are on the mmcd or the updates if memory serves.

I haven't done it in a while but i think you install the p96 drivers for the cv64-3d card then end up copying some radeon drivers over or renaming.

picasso96 2.1c is the latest,but i think i am still using 2.1B

Many thanks, Mechy! Over 100 people saw my post but you were the only one to answer.

Somewhere in the dim recesses of my mind I recalled Cybervision but didn't know it was the Cybervision3D that I was to choose.

I made some of the suggested changes suggested in the P96 installer script and changed the Cybervision refs in the monitor icons to Radeon but for some reason my system hung when I tried to reboot. Maybe P96 made some change to the user-startup that confused the OS?  Next time I may have to boot in the early startup screen and boot w/o a startup and see what's going on.

That is correct in the old instructions it said to copy over the Cybervision 3D driver, then change the tooltype to Radeon.  So I would install p96 with that, but then just run the install of the mediator stuff again afterward and it should copy the correct Radeon driver over, at least the last re-installs I did worked that way!

Thanks, Slaapliedje. If I'm not mistaken the most recent Elbox software hasn't included a Radeon.card file, just Virge and Voodoo, so why would it help to re-run the Mediator install program?

Not yet, BigBronc. The P96 install added a line to the user-startup and then the machine wouldn't boot, apparently since I'd not set it up to use the Radeon card yet but P96 was being started. I commented out the P96 reference but the machine still wouldn't boot.

I sent the startup-sequence and the user-startup to an Amigakit technician in the hopes that he'll see what's wrong.

Also the time shown on bootup is a few days ago if I don't boot in a week, so I'm worried about the battery. I don't know where it is, or if it's easily replaceable (reportedly some are soldered to the motherboard, and some are easily replaced by snapping one in and out of a holder connected to the motherboard).

BTW, I never got the PM that you got the chips so I'm glad I called

Have you remembered to run the MedConfig tool?

As for your  user-startup file, if the only thing that's been added is an "Assign  Picasso96:" line, you shouldn't worry about it since it only tells where  Picasso96 can find it's files.
If a "Mixer NOGUI QUIET" line has  been added, I will suggest that you disable it. The Mixer has always  been a problem on my setup, and the only way I can get it to work  without crashing, is to use a delay before it gets started. This is done  by running it in my user-startup-LATE script that gets executed from  the regular user-startup. The user-startup-LATE file has a "Wait 10" at  the top.

No, there's no Mixer reference in the user-startup.

No, there's no Mixer reference in the user-startup.

I'm not sure if it's really required to to run MedConfig after a software update, but on the other hand, it doesn't hurt doing it either. At least you will be sure that all Mediator settings files is present.

Installing Picasso96 & Mediator software is something I have done only a couple of times, so my memory is a bit vague. It might be possible that Mixer gets copied to the WBStartup drawer instead of being added to user-startup on install. Anyway, I think it will only be copied when software for a pci soundcard is being installed.

The problem is that I can't run MedConfig because i can no longer boot from the original partition because P96 apparently changed something. Anyway, I never had a sound or TV card on this machine.
