Surfing....you folks in the Southern hemisphere are a hoot.
Yesterday, Mark "Bigfoot" Olsen e-mailed me saying Summer had come a little early to South Africa and that it felt odd to see Christmas trees with artificial snow around them in the shopping malls.

Oh well, wherever you are Amigans, a very Merry Christmas to you all.
Especially you Kesa.

"Its +13 days"

Still trying to figure out if that is 13 ahead or behind.

Suggested bounty - A VOX sentence parser, something that breaks down and translates VOX's posts into intelligible English.

BTW - Happy Birthday young man.

I would donate to that!  ;)  Kidding, kidding, Merry Christmas y'all!  Once I get out of the office I'll probably head to the nearest bar, find somewhere to skate, or go home to some rum and a few rounds of Christmas Lemmings.  Thanks to my Amigas I can pretend I'm 16 all over again... and that includes the rum!  :D  :pint:

11 days were removed in 1752 (in the British world).  The Julian calendar has the last year of every century as a leap year, the Gregorian calendar fixes that by making the last year of a century a leap year only if it's divisible by 400.  The difference between Julian and Gregorian has increased to 13 because of 1800 and 1900...

Hence Julian 25/12/13 is Gregorian 7/1/14. Since the world uses Gregorian, Julian (Orthodox) Christmas occurs on 7 January 2014

Well said sir, but isn't January 7th further away from the Winter solstice?
After all, no one is actually pretending we know what day Jesus was born.
These Christian holidays are all timed to occur at dates that were already traditional holidays for Pagan religions.
