my never ending quest for internet access

just playing  ..yet again ..when i remembered  a comment on the 3c589.device  for pcmcia  cards  ..an a comment on a 3c589d.device ?..apon looking  at my card it has 3c589d  on it an my cable has 3c589c  on it  ..the cable  i got seperate from the card ..cable says it works with the etherlink111  lan pc card ..are these drivers different? ..
almost  to the point  of giving up on this card an tryin to find a new one with all the software  etc a prism device... ?.or a usb  net card ..though my usb is slow on my external hardrive  ..would be slow on net i guess ..
also on subject  on networking  id like to parnet with pcnetwork  my amiga to my laptop like i used to...my newer  laptop pent4 doesnt have a parallel port ..do the usb to parallel adaptors work on the pc side to run the cable to the a1200 parallel port?

Have you looked at one of the plipbox's
Uses an Arduino, with an Ethernet adapter to give you internet via the parallel port.

Easiest option probably is getting a card that works with cnet.device because it supports so many different brands and types.

3C589... and Etherlink III are basically the same. If you're not sure the hardware is OK, try it in a PC laptop.

maybe the same ..3c589 ..i tried em all ..it says 3c589d on the cable..checked the card in my laptop installed no probs at all

Can you specify what problems you have? Do you get any error messages? Also, which network stack are you using?

basically  i cant get past gettin the 1200 to recognize  the network pcmcia card ..bought the etherlink111 cable to go with the card i had ..either the card  or the cable or both are not compatible ..supposed to work with the 3c589 but my 1200 cant find the card (etherlink111) ..tried miami  ..an the genesis setup ..no go..just waiting till i can  find afford a new card that definatley  works..
it says 3c589d on the cable  ..not 3c589  ..maybe why?
