Sam460ex case
« on: December 20, 2013, 04:30:09 PM »
Hi!

Thinking of buying a sam460ex (https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicuro.it/shop/en/sam-motherboards/10-sam460ex.html) board after x-mas.

If anyone knows; am I correct in that it would fit in this case?:

The SAM460 is a Flex-ATX format board, It won't fit in this case that is made for made for Mini-ITX.

Interesting info about formats here:

Hm, wops, I just assumed it was mini-itx. Sorry about that.

I have been searching on Google, but it seems the selection is very limited for flex but I will keep looking.

Thanks!

TheDaddy;haha, thanks ;D

Delta; Yup, it looks nice and I have found a couple that seem okay, but they are all missing SD-card reader in the front.

But then I found this:
http://www.cmstore.eu/cases/elite/elite-100/elite-100-refurbished/
( http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2935 )
And this:

Will it work you think?

Any micro ATX case should work fine.

@Looren:   You can simply buy a multi card reader that fits into a floppy bay.

like this:

Iggy; Are you sure about that?
Looking at the link from Delta, and Flex is in between sizes of micro and mini.

Delta; Ah, never thought of floppy bay readers. I will keep that in mind.
I am checking the spec for your case model btw, is it correct that it does not have any 2.5” internal slots?

@Looren

True but the way the floppy bay is made you could fit a 2.5" drive there even if you install a card reader in the bay.    Maybe a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter bracket could do the job as well(?)

And make sure to get a Low Profile video card if you buy this case.  I got all my stuff directly from Acube except for the hard disk and DVD-R.

Some sort of bracket would do the job yes.

Regarding the low profile card, I noticed that they have fans on the ones they sell on acubes website and I would prefer something that is completely noiseless. I have seen some passive, low profile graphic cards, but not sure if they will work or not. Gotten the impression that only a few graphic cards work properly on OS4, but may be I am wrong?
For example:
http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=1865527
and
http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=502262

Are you by the way using any of the SATA controller cards from acube (or anyone else for that matter)? Wondering if these are low profile? And if it is possible to set up RAID on them? (probably not)

I'm using the SiI3114 4 ports from Acube web store, it came with a low profile clip.

As for video cards I can't confirm if the HD6450 will work, better e-mail Acube about it, they usually reply quickly enough.   Until there is real 3D support and some games worth playing I don't care much about these cards.

Is there a micro?
I thought we went to itx after Mini.

Considering they are still pushing HD4650s, its questionable.
Hey, were do you even get a 4650 these days?
