Why not just stick to ScanDoubler-type devices?

ScanDoubler
"This unit connects to the RGB port of the Amiga and provides it with both a scandoubler and a flickerfixer. The scandoubler allows you to connect PC SVGA monitors by doubling the Amigas standard 15.5Khz to the 31Khz required by VGA. The flicker fixer part allows you to display interlaced screenmodes without flicker."

ScanMagic
"An internal scandoubler designed for installation in an A4000 or A1200."

Other models:
ScanMagic external
FlickerMagic

BTW What may I ask is a Video Toaster?
Simple as pos please.

Toaster2000
The simple answer is- a television studio in a box
Slightly longer answer- " Video Toaster is an on-line desktop video editing system that includes all the features you need to create professional video productions."

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get one of these?

I've been a long time A500 user since 1988, and it's been decked out with a massive 3Mb of Ram and an cavernous 270Mb hard drive.  Having dabbled with Amiga Forever for a while I felt like going back to a real Amiga... Now I have just landed myself a nice A4000/40 from ebay which works a treat but my 1084s died, literally the day before the A4000 arrived.  I want to look at using a VGA monitor on the A4000 but it has to cope with the lowres screenmodes as well.

Ahh, it's good to be back (sorta). Though the A520 modulator just isn't how I'd ideally be experiencing an AGA Amiga for the first time ;)

Anyway - advice much appreciated as I'm new to this bigbox Amiga phenomenon.

 Nokia 417TV also.

I don't know if the VGA-adapter works on an A500,
but it sure works fine on my A600!
I'm using one right now with an Commodore 1942
monitor atached on it.
Works great on my A4000 as well!

Try Software Hut I believe they have the internal units for the 4000 in stock.
