25 pin sub-D to BNC network connector
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:01:56 PM »
I found this connector in an old dutch amiga magazine.
After some searching on the internet,i found out you have them with an RJ45 connection as well.
Has anyone tried this on the amiga?
Amiga 500 + A590 + a502 memory expansion.
Amiga 1200 + harddrive + ACA1232

25pin D to RJ45 is just for connecting two RS232 ports using cables with RJ45 at each end, not for connecting to an Ethernet network.

I've not used a 25 pin to BNC on anything before, but I doubt it does what you want either.

You could also make a 25 pin D to SCART converter and then connect two machines serial ports together with a SCART to SCART cable.

You can (or could) get Ethernet to PPP adapters, but 115200 baud is pretty rubbish and they are expensive too.
Something like http://www.ipcas.com/products/ppp-gateway.html

Someone could do a DIY one with one of the cheap embedded CPUs that support Ethernet.

Well it's quicker and as you can dma it won't have such a huge overhead, but it's only 0.45 mega bits per second & not compatible with ethernet.
