Searching dip socket replacment for guru rom
« on: October 02, 2013, 07:47:35 PM »
Hi,

I am looking for a dip socket to replace the one from my gururom.
I looked at the wire wrap socket but those have a bigger pin diameter than the hole diameter from the guru rom PCB...
It's in fact a normal dip socket with longer pin (Must be same diameter than a normal dip socket but about 2 times longer).
Does someone know where I could find this ?

Try the usual haunts: Digikey, Jameco, MCMelectronics, and eBay.

Already looked, this 28 dip socket seems almost impossible to find. :-(

You are aware that the socket does not have to be contiguous; you can cut and combine sockets to get the correct number.

Yes, I know but I just can't find something with pins land enough and having the right diameter to go through pcb's holes...  :-( If someone have a good idea, I'll be glad to take it...

EDIT : Found it, have to order and try. If ok, I will write here the part number...

D95028-42, just had to enlarge a bit the holes on the socket and was/is perfect!
Even more stable than the original socket...
