Will be ordering this soon but I was wondering if anyone here is using one?

How fast is the card?
What tcp/ip stack are you using?
Read somewhere that lpr.device will not work with the supplied easynet stack, is that true?
Is it stable?
Does it multitask nice?
Any future nmi device for Miami?

I have one but haven't installed it yet. I'll be using it with MiamiDX. Not sure what to expect for speed. If there's an lpr.device problem, it probably has to do with AmiTCP v3; Easynet is just a frontend for that. The card should multitask just as well as any other network card. The odds of an MNI driver appearing are zero; I don't  know if it's even possible to create new MNI drivers - is the API public?

I'll report back with some speed tests once I get it working.

I used the easy net (amitcp v3) did a download with ibrowse on a 3 meg file. Cps bounced from 32000 to about 48000. I haven't tried with the 1.11 driver yet. I did notice it it connects faster to the easy net update in WB3.9 then Classic WB3.1 advance. Maybe because more things are runnning in CWB vs a clean install of 3.9?
As for multi tasking it was just fine. Ran ibrowse, amiftp, opus with no probs. Funny i logged on to amigakit web site with aweb and it crashed the machine. Will make note of some transfer rates off net and off my internal network and post them. I can't connect via share for my WD cloud in the house but i enabled the ftp server on it and can connect via ftp no prob. Nice having a 2 terrabit storage for some amiga needs. Anyhow it beats the old parallel set up i had before and eliminated one machine from my desk altogether! WOOT on that!

I've been using mine in OS3.9 AND 4.1 for 2 weeks:

I've not done Formal transfer speeds, but it is fast.

I use Roadshow68k (and Roadshow.ELF in OS4.1) because EasyNet is AmiTCP based and DOES NOT support the lpr.device.  I have three networked printers in my office and using the lpr.device I can select each one for printing with the click of an icon.  Roadshow is drop dead simple to use.

Stability is fine in both OS's; care must be taken in an A4000T and Mediator as the card needs a riser if you try to go OVER the mediator board.  I use the one unobstructed slot.

Multitask nice?  The board, the device driver?  The TCP/IP stack?  I'm afraid all I can say is that I browse with Ibrowse,  download, unarc, and install all at the same time without issues.

I haven't used Miami in years.

The only downside is the same with all of Jens' products:  there is no warranty.  Once it leaves the reseller you are on your own.

EasyNetPro will be an upgrade option for customers next month- it is bsdsocket.library v4 compatible so will work with the lpr.device

If someone could post some consistent transfer rates on these new cards, I'd love to see them.  May have a line on a cheap big box Amiga to replace my current emulation box, but since I will end up using it for a BBS I really need good throughput.

There are far better consumer protection laws in Europe than in the US. It may not be explicitly stated (or maybe only stated in German), but I am sure there is a manufacturer's warranty.

I had tried posting a few questions about this card in the original product anouncement thread, but didn't really find the information I was looking for.  It looks like now that this card is in the hands of a few people maybe I'll have better luck?


Questions-

- Looks like it has one RJ-45 and two USB jacks... but are the USB jacks inactive until after purchase of (quote) "local expansion port for forthcoming high-speed USB module"?  I'm assuming there' no ETA for this module?

- Is that an IDE connector on the board? Is this bootable? Or is this where you plug in the above-mentioned USB module?

- Looks like there's an unfinished 10-pin header on the board. Is this for internal USB devices, or something else?

Not sure how to measure the speed. I used ibrowse and downloaded a 4 meg file off of whdownload and it average about 32000 cps, not sure how that translates to how many megs a sec. It was pretty fast. That was connecting with amitcp v3 with the 1.11 driver.

Not even close to 1 meg/sec. That's 32K/sec. On my A1200 with USB Ethernet I get about 3K/sec.

hmm maybe there is somewhere else i could try that has a faster server? eab server?

edit: Just tried ftp connection with eab and only about 22000 cps and internally to my house cloud i hit about 270000 cps.

Under OS3.9, I could never get AmiTCP V4.X to install and work; I used Miami with a keyfile until Roadshow came along, and I've been using Roadshow ever since.  OS4.1 comes with Roadshow.  My secondary reason for purchasing Roadshow-68k is to support the development of new software for the Amiga.

[Network speed tests have so many variable factors involved that comparisons would be mostly inaccurate.  IMHO, if it feels fast to you, then it is fast]
