Although I must admit, if I had the disposable income I might consider an A-eon system.

If we do move to an alternate ISA, I hope its something with common, low cost hardware.

Maybe it's just me but I'm getting bored of these build-up excitement slowly marketing campaigns.

When they reveal the actual product it is is normally met with a large dose of Meh.

If they've done something new then awesome, show us what it is already.

Everybody worships at the altar of Hype these days. Moreover, none of them seem to know how to do hype competently...

I like the way that Jens does it:

1) Come up with an idea
2) Build a 'working' prototype
3) Announce the thing with some pictures
4) Get some feedback and tweak the design
5) Release the sucker

Well their original mantra was that they could only release OS4 for official AmigaONE branded hardware thus preventing Moana from bring officially available.

Then they released it for SAM boards and the Pegasos II after the court case so there is no rational reason for Hyperion not to release a Mac version.

If that cost ACube and A-EON business then they should adapt or die.  That's what capitalism is about, competition and I'm sure Hyperion would make more money due to enlarging their market.

Are you sure about that? Trevor has invested lots of money in this venture. If Hyperion does that they might get some sales but at the same time they propably lose Trevor as supporter (or at least risk that). And it is propably a strategical decision to have their partners and only sale it on new hardware.

No it's obviously not just you, far from it, I think this "teasing" gives a childish impression and just pisses people off. Also risks building up anticipation that can easily turn into an anticlimax and kick back at you if what you later deliver won't match the hype you built up. So I agree on the steps you outlined above.

Other than time, which Hyperion does not have to much of, plus we really don't know what arrangements Hyperion have doen with their other clients.

They released it for Sam and Peg2 before the settlement.

Anyway, I don't think Hyperion is making any money at all. It's impossible to imagine where the money would come from, given their business model of tying the OS to garage-level volume HW with SciFi price tags that is beaten by decade old mainstream Macs. The few hundreds of people who wants that and is actually prepared to pay the price for it and settle with OS4's features, performance and quality, well they already got it. So beyond those, where are the customers, where is the market? If they had made any money, they would have paid the developers who made OS4 in the first place (one would hope at least), instead of constantly picking up free replacement hobby developers from the shrinking fan base. And since they just continue down the same road instead of changing their ways, it doesn't really seem they *want* to make money, that they don't *want* to build a market and a future for OS4.

Regarding the topic, I think (and hope) that it's a new MiniMig with updated specs. First letter "M" fits as well, and so does the size of the PCB.
