Amiga 1000 for $2,600
« on: August 09, 2013, 07:27:02 PM »
Here is an Amiga 1000 that is being sold for $2,600.  A few of us die hard Amigans have tried to help out the seller with his sale and he has taken it a little hard and is posting the comments on the auction.  I tried to be nice and tell him he needs to lower it and also post pics if he wants to sell it.  :)

I don't think the seller understands. He says it negative comments. Criticisms should not be taken personal. It should be used to learn. At least you tried to reason with the seller.

Seller is an idiot.  Maybe he sees Jesus in his Amiga, too?  I sent him a nice, reasonable message too.  Maybe I'll get "famous" by being posted on his wall also?  Ha!

Not true. What if some real idiot comes along and buys it? Can't hurt to try!

I laugh at all these threads about "crazy Amiga listings"...they are humorous on so many different levels...and...just for some perspective, I'm not lol'ing at the seller either :)

In my view it make both of them idiots.  True maybe some one think it rare.  If it rare like gold than I be surprised.

I believe it is stupid to try to contact any seller to complain about the high price of an item. If it is way above market prices, it wont sell, so he/she will have to lower it till it finds a sweet spot for a buyer.

Complaining about Amiga high prices does nothing to solve that.

Be honest, there are a lot of Amiga hoarders that have more than a dozen Amigas that never get used at all, and that doesnt help to generate better offers in the used market.
Also there are also some users, that buy and resell at an important markup (highly unreasonable you may say for hobbysts), like for example that guy from Hungary in ebay. Or if you wish, we may add to the list, those 30 or something guys (from Amibay and Ebay) that sold their Amiga ethernet cards way above their buying price, speculating on buying the soon to be released Xsurf-100 at a lower price, so that they keep some pocket change in this process. The exactly same thing happens with Amiga accelerators, especially now that the current ACA 12xxx series batch seems to be reaching out of stock status on the usual Amiga shops.

In the end, I believe that complaining about high prices on Amiga stuff is something that goes from stupidity to hipocresy
But then... it is your choice :)

Someone can't manipulate the price anymore. We have 3 FPGA Amigas to choose from.
When someone has the Ebay store it only costs 1 cent to list something, so the guy doesn't care if it sells or not.

I am personally fed up with Ebay. I went there to compare prices and the things I was after were actually more expensive on Ebay than the stores I checked.
I don't sell there anymore. I can do a bit of browsing by selecting auctions only. It is a horrible experience if you just want to do a bit of browsing with no particular product in mind.

It would be nice to know what he offers at next from his parents rooms. What could it be, a rocking chair, an old clothes stand, a pair of worn boots galoshes plus spats, or probably an antique briefcase from 1945?

Maybe we should immediately contact a bookie!

He said he just picked $2,600 as a number and also made reference to Christ in the Chicken McNugget that I guess sold for a lot?  Well for one you cannot compare a freak eBay sale to an Amiga 1000.  The A1000 is NOT that freaky or rare to expect it will sell for thousands of dollars.  But then again he hasn't searched very hard.  But even on eBay you can see A1000's for sale pretty often in the US anyways. True there might not be 100 offered at the same time, but they are on there often enough.  I guess he thinks it's indeed the Christ in the Chicken McNugget of Computers!
