all not lost for Aladdin4D
« on: July 22, 2013, 08:21:45 PM »
Dear Friends:

I love aladdin 4d, and I am very sad with the current developments.
But I have an idea !!!
The aladdin version 5.0 for amiga is still good and can still be sold to raise
enough money to pay someone else to code/upgrade new amiga aladdin.
And the aladdin 4d cd version, can still work super in amiga forever.
Both versions of aladdin is still good and still work.
Maybe with some good marketing, can aladdin 4d still stay on sale
to raise money for the next version ?
Good luck aladdin 4d !!!

Dear Amigans:
In order to help aladdin 4d start selling again, I have an idea.
I will try to become more productive using aladdin 4d, to release
new objects and drawings every week, to share with the aladdin
community.
I ask that all people that still use aladdin 4d, join me in creating
new scenes and objects for aladdin 4d.
Together...we can bring aladdin 4d back !!!

Hi rednova! Thanx for your belief in Aladdin4D. I'm looking for an A4D fan and hobbyist to write a companion tutorial book on Aladdin4D. Is this something you would be interested in?

Dear Amigans:

I have good news !!!
I have been studying lightwave 3d for a few years and I have
a zilllion tutorials for lightwave 3d.
I can take every tutorial and 'adapt' it for use on aladdin 4d.
I can pick all lightwave tutorials and re-release in a way
that we can make them work on aladdin.
I am not gonna use the same old tutorial...but rewrite them
in a different way that it would be different from the original
but enough to learn new techniques for aladdin 4d.

Cheers !!!

Dear Amigo:

This is the link to my webpage

https://sites.google.com/site/rednova3d/

Go to the 'gallery', the first 3 pics on the right were done in aladdin 4d.
The rest was done in lightwave 3d, including the mech on main page.
I hope you like my work.
I am just a hobbyist, but I do love both aladdin 4d and lightwave 3d.
Cheers !!!

as a former lightwave user i have good news for you.

until recent versions that got too complicated to set up because of legacy balast lightwave of amiga era is almost self explanatory. the functionality is at hand and it is intuitive. the single thing i have never figured out myself and yet have not figured out following tfm was the bones, or rather bones joints. in particular (re)activating the bones is never explained, except the manual. then the voxels, gee is it clumsy. almost like blender..

any way the web is carrying multitude of tutorials, if this helps you depends on you alone.

Dont get me wrong but you need to practice more :). I was a LW user for many years back in the day when i was on amiga dayly. The main problem for me back then where effects like smoke and fire and ofcourse rendering times even on 060@66.

You need to pay more attention to textures, lightning and add more details to your objects. Also turning on antialiasing wont hurt :). Of course it will add to your rendering time, that shouldnt be a problem for single frames, rendering animations with motion blur and antialiasing is a struggle.
