Hello,

I'm having issues with an Amiga 600 I bought a while ago (and only now checking out).

When I put in the disk for the game 'Silkworm', I can play normally with a joystick. When I put in the Workbench disk, I can use the mouse. So the ports must be working.

However, most games I put in, won't accept any input:
  • not with the mouse in Mouse port
  • not with the mouse in Joystick port
  • not with the joystick in Mouse port
  • not with the joystick in Joystick port
  • not with the keyboard

Funnily enough, they do work on the trainers/demos/crack-screens that preceed the game (I don't support illegal games, but I did buy the Amiga 600 with all these games included from someone else - I remember few people had original games in the olden days).
Say for example, I put in a disk and the screen loads with some animation telling me who cracked it and I can switch on 'infinite lives'. I can do that with my joystick. I press fire to start and the actual game turns up. It tells me to press fire, but whatever I press (see list above), it won't react.

So I have an Amiga 600 (with a new floppy disk drive bought from AmigaKit), a two-button mouse (as included with the computer) and a Quickshot Python 3 (I believe, it's this one: http://www.2600connection.com/faq/controllers/faq_controller_python3.jpg). I've tried all buttons on the joystick, with and without the turbo enabled.

Anyone know a way of resolving this or finding out what the problem is?
