One of the bad things about ebay.  Morons who won't spend the extra dollar or so to wrap something up properly!

Do hope a claim is in process so you at least won't be out any money for somebody else's stupidty!

It has nothing to do with money just common sense.. A bunch of scrunched newspaper would have provided more protection. There is really no excuse.. Even if you are cheap recycling packaging (from parcels you receive) does not cost nothing but a bit of space.

F'ing dreadful. I worked hard to get over 500 feedback comments, 100% positive on Ebay and people like this just F'it all up.
I would demand a full refund (cost plus postage) and if the seller doesn't agree escalate the claim and let Ebay handle it.
You'll get your money back (and probably get to keep the busted 1010 as well).

It was packed w/o any packing material around it??? I hate when they do that.
I would ask for refund. You can use the Ebay Protection Play if they don't cooperate to get your money back.

I've had this happen several times. I've usually gotten a full refund. On the seller side, I've gotten compliments on my packing of delicate items. I sent a Powerbook G4 motherboard to Italy and the buyer raved on how well I packed it in the feedback.

As the button barely sticks out unless there is a floppy disk in the drive, I'm a bit surprised it managed to get that much force on it to break it.

Last time was a pair of Proline Joysticks for my 7800.  (Yes, I know they are bad, but they are original.)
Found a nice looking pair at a decent price.  
They werre shipped totally without any packing material in an envelope, slightly padded envelope, but not much.

When I opened the envelope, plastic pieces started falling out.

I did get a refund, but still....

As a side note, I managed to super glue them together mostly.  Lost some plastic, and you can tell they have been broken, but they work as long as I'm delicate, so I refunded half the refund.  
I figure I might have paid that much for a broken pair..
(No, they never said, "Hey thanks, you didn't have to do that.."  But I did it for me.. ;-)

When I sold my Amiga 2000, I wrapped it in bubble wrap, then put two pieces of square cardboard under it, filled that with that easy foam for insulation, then filled the sides and the top, the only way you were going to hurt that baby was to run over it with a steam roller. The only thing was I forgot about the Apollo 68030 accelerator in the A2000, I guess sometime during its trip to CA. it got smacked hard and came loose, I received a phone call from the purchaser saying it didn't work and of course the purchaser knew absolutely zero jack about Amiga's. It took me three days to figure out what was wrong. Just telling her how to open it was hello operator. Anyhow on the third day finally figured out the Apollo just popped loose.
So ===== when you sell your Amiga, ask if they are experienced in the Amiga scene.


Oh by the way, just open up the drive, if you get lucky, the button just go pushed in and with a little push, you might push it back to re align with the button hole and go back out and work, I know my drive did this on the move from Florida, to Pennsyltucky, home of a bunch of darn yankees that I have to put up with. Heck the stupidest person in the south would look like a genius up here in yankee land. The only reason we lost the war was because we didn't have the money. The darn carpetbaggers took care of that.

I had a TSR-80 Model 4 shipped to me a few years ago and the heavy manuals and binders were set on the keyboard in the box and it must have taken a big jostle. The keyboard support post poked through the keyboard circuit board.

I am sorry to see that ! Its a big pain to see decent hardware destroyed by the lack of care or other problems...
 
 
 Both as seller and buyer there is a high chance that you get screwed. Hard to predict but sometimes you can tell from the communication whether they care about the things or have no clue. on the seller side what I hate is the people (one of them on this very forum) which try to badmouth you on ebay (first give you negative feedback and then immediately start a claim so you cant return the favor.... )with their rating when they can find an excuse not to buy what they bid on because they like to pay less. I want to pack things as safe as possible, sometimes that increases the shipping cost, and when buyers see that as a "violation" of ebay then :whack::quickdraw:
 
ebay sucks, i prefer amibay despite the overrated prices from certain individuals or amiga.org
