AmiTCP and WHDLoad and startnet

I know these don't play ball, get some crazy results with some games. But I'm looking at whdload cleanup and startup.

There's a line in there to start/stop AmiTCP, the example uses x-surf. I've been trying to get this to work with the fastethernet.device that comes with the Mediator.

It states resource in use or something a long those lines, I think I know what it is. I can't get the startnet cli to close as I have it starting on boot.

I've tried endcli in the script but still doesn't close. I tried calling it with the execute command in  user-startup instead of the run option but endcli still doesn't work.

I've googled this but the only solution that was suggested was using arexx and place startnet in wbstartup.

However it still doesn't close the window on it's own but you do get the option to close the window which doesn't happen when it is called from user-startup.

Is there something I'm overlooking?

Also trying to improve the speed of the voodoo using warp3d, is it usual for it to be very slow?

After all this just have the sound card to go :-)

Startnet is not a exe file, it's just a script that does a few things. That's why you you see [CLIx] when you run it.
 
Now I'm just guessing but one reason could be that the CLI opens additional CLIs and therefore you cant close the original one.
 
I don't have startnet in front of me but some commands might need to be "run'ed" to?

Are you sure you are using AmiTCP?  Maybe you are using Miami ?  Or one of the other TCP stacks?

And if you post a copy of this startnet script for us to look at we might be able to figure out the problem.

AmiTCP :-) Has a script that it calls from the user-startup using run command.

After trying various options, even using arexx and placing it under wbstartup was annoying as I had to then close the window manually.

I've switched to Miami which loads without an annoying shell window, and has a nice GUI I can use to go offline. So works in great with WHDLoad.

Will past the contents of the startnet script here when I get home so maybe a solution can be found for other people that come across it. It's just the standard script that AmiTCP creates when you set it up.

I use Miami too.  Seems nice and friendly.  And I love their developer documentation.

But just so u know, Miami Deluxe is a lot faster and has some new features like PPPOE.

Sounds good, I'm also a fan of Genesis. Which I had running nicely with my wireless card.

Downside is I broke a pin on the PCMCIA slot so have to get that fixed at some point so went back to using the NIC with the mediator :-)
