Funny, I'm building up an A2000 too.An A3000 or A4000 might have more expandability, but the really good hardware is getting rare and stupid priced.
A2000 parts?
Still cheap.

At this point? 8mb of ram, 25 MHz '030, ECS, looking for a good RTG solution that I can feed the output of an Indivision through.
Wish I could go PPC.
Don't really care about AGA (uh, guys, ever bench that against a Voodoo3? trust me, you don't want to - you'll get depressed).

When did they ever make a ZORRO VooDoo card??? Your link looks like a windows type AGP card.

The 4Gb limit being talked about is a limit in 3.1OS. You can use the 64 bit FFS, OR 3.5 or 3.9 to use over 4Gb.

This is not entirely factual. An older rev rom a2091 can use 4gb drives from what iirc.

Nope, that's wrong. I've actually tried it. Here's the Commodore Tech Topics page announcing the update.

Guess that means that previous versions before 7.0 for A2091 do not.. ;)

welcome....

Not on this topic.... I looked through the issues I have, and the only thing about A2091 ROMS was the 6.1 upgrade - a memory overwrite bug, and 6.6 for "reslection" on multiple drives. These things were sent out to dealers for the service department... they're on the web somewhere, I forgot where I found them.

So it manages > 1GByte. But does that mean it will manage 2 TByte? (32-bit LBA)

No idea.... are there any 2TB SCSI drives that would interface to the A2091? And if there were, why would anyone want one on a classic Amiga? (Except for maybe a Flyer.) I never even filled up the 500MB drive glommed from the old external mac drive.

That Commodore Tech Topics thing looks really cool.  Would love to see the archive if you're able to dig up a link!  :)

I'm trying to determine where the limit is not if there was a physical drive at the maximum size.

Sure, anything you can run via RTG.
Why?
Quake II ought to run (but that requires a PPC).
And other RTG titles.
Not that a Voodoo  card is going to work in my system since you can't fit PCI slots to an A2000.

I could use a Voodoo3 in a MorphOS system, but there are better cards for that.
And I keep my Voodoo card in a PC to flash PC video cards with Mac compatible roms.

You'd use a Voodoo 3 PCI card in a PCI bus adapter (or a Voodoo 4500 or 5500).
Don't think there are AGP slot adapters for the Amiga.

In a word, yes.  You should look to upgrading the SCSI chip too (it never ends, does it?) I think Mechy still carries them... (I can't find the darned link)
