Indivision AGA MK2 Config tool problems! (solved)
« on: June 08, 2013, 09:26:47 PM »
Hey all, I just tried out the Config tool for Indivision AGA MK2 and all is haywire for me now.

Before I had problems with vertical lines in VGA so I switched to a DVI monitor, some screen modes where to small and gave to much black borders and some screen modes was overscaning to much.

But SUPERPLUS High res laced worked out great in WB but all games I ran had quite much black borders around them.

So I thought ill try the config tool out, manually installed it and fired it up, tested a mode and now nothing works as it should.

First thing I tried wrote to flash, bam I got black borders and 20-30% of my desktop area  disappeared behind black borders.

I went and moved screenmode.prefs and when I rebooted I could at least see the entire desktop but it was tiny in the middle of the screen.

Tried to change stuff in the config tool, but however I do nothing works out.

At the moment I can run "PAL High res laced" in 800x600 but I have to scroll to get to the bottom of the screen etc.

I dont know what to do, I want it all to be like it was before, how do i restore the AGA MK2 to default, this is just a mess and my miggy aint usable right now :(

Desperate need of help!

Eidit: Nothing is usable right now, startup, games etc are 1/3rd of the screen in height and a bit short in with, WB is messed up and all screen modes I am needed to scroll to get to the end etc. I really need help here, flashing it to default core/settings would do the trick if anyone knows how, this is just a mess, tried to change things in config tool nothing does nothing still the same mess :(

Here you see I have quite a lot of black borders, even if I get it to show over the entire screen i still have to scroll and a large chung of the work area is not vissable.
This is using PAL: High Res Laced

And this is when using SUPERPLUS: High Res Laced (the mode that worked perfect before)

Here is how it looks when I start games now, just a small area, before it was at least aspect ratio proper but underscan.

This is how it all was before I started this stupid config tool...
My work area was full screen (no matter what monitor I tried it on) and games where at least a good aspect ratio even if off center and underscan... (WB runs in SUPERPLUS HR Laced)

How ever I try I can not get anything te be near how it was before, all is broken and I do not know how to restore it, ill take how it was any day of the week, I can't figure out how to fix this, help would be appreciated a lot!

Well tinkering a bit and I got full screen working without borders and all area visable in HIGHGFX: Super-high Res Laced.

EDIT:

I think I got the grip of the tool, don't know why some screen modes do not work anymore since the core updated, but at least PAL and HIGHGFX works great after some tinkering (most games and WB), tho screen mode resolution in WB has no effect anymore and the higher the resolution the smaller area and more black borders I get.

Some explanation of this tool would be great if anyone got the time :)

Manually remove/unstall the tool. Including any preferences and then grab the latest version and install that.

Fixed all the issues I was having.

v1.1
http://icomp.de/products/AGAmk2/MK2_CFG_V11.lha

Then grab V1.2 which needs to be installed manually.

http://wiki.icomp.de/w/images/b/b3/IvAGAMK2_config_V1.2.lha

I just used the defaults that came with 1.1 which work straight out of the box :-)

Thanks for the reply, same issues and still many screen modes I can not use, I am tho getting the hang of how this works, the scrolling is because (I think) of the visible area of a mode but the centering problem I do not know.

At the moment PAL works great (better then before), HighGFX works great (as superplus was before).

Some modes are just plain not working but I think im getting the hang of it now :)

It's certainly isn't user friendly :-/ The Indivsion ECS tool is far better :-)

The config tool SUCKS. For the amount of money for this product for a vintage machine you wuould think the config would be easy to use!

I must agree, it was not easy at all to use, I would at least expect proper documentation :/

Getting the hang of it now tho and more modes works, but still not to user friendly :/

I am running into the same issues you are having. Now when any NTSC games load up the image is cut out and not complete.  Too bad there wasnt a default set of resolutions that would take up the full screen and not have it cut/bordered... Btw, how did you go about getting the games to fill up the screen some more?

I only paid $160 for mine which I don't consider a huge amount of money.

I strongly disagree that the config tool "SUCKS". I think it is pretty nice and powerful and my only complaint is just how long the config tool development was not a priority.

Once the beta tool showed up people asked for more clocks and a preview mode and a few days later those features were added.

The UI is pretty nice if you ask me :)

I have not tried the MK1 at all, so can't say anything, but as said the more I got used to this tool the better it became :)

It's getting better and better the more I get used to it, development took long time but still some documentation would have helped a lot.

The option to use the old cores would have been nice, since many screen modes worked better then, but at least I can get fullscreen without under/overscan now :)

Would have saved me a few hours of work when all went haywire tho.
