WTB - rear cage, slot covers 4 A300d
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:26:24 PM »
UGH...someone tried to "toasterize" perfectly good A3000d's and mutilated the removable cage what holds the slot covers. Looking for the cage and or slot covers and any screws for 3000s.

Could use 3 cages and  12 covers if someone has a pile of em laying around. If not, do PC slot covers work, I don't have any old ones to test ?

If someone knows the sizes for the screws that's good too. I will be google- ing and not being lazy, any help is appreciated however !

Hey danbeaver....would an intact and homeless rear card cage, count as a "hen's tooth" :biglaugh: , how about 2 or 3 ?
I gots me a Video Toaster...where do I put the bread in ?!?!

Is it possible that the four slot cage and slot covers are "stock"
There are lots of surplus cages and covers in used computer shops.

BTW, amigakit sells slot covers (i bought some because they have cooling slots for air movement)

True, but I doubt the cage itself is stock PC even if the slot covers are a standard size.

Yes, the slot covers are stock, and yes, I have a few, but not 12;  you can buy new ones on line, just make sure they are sturdy  (in case you re-task them to become VGA/DVI/USB socket holders -- Dremel is your friend).  The A3000D slot-holders are not stock but might be repairable or a hardware store (Lowes) will sell sheet metal for fabrication of a new one. Easy if you have access to the folding and cutting tool (machine shop); not so easy using tin snips, anvils, vice grips, and such. Pick up metric M3 & M4 screws you will need to use on the cases.

A3000's are a bitch :-) to work on. I'm in the process of selling my last refurbed one and the "other one" as parts -- working parts, just won't work together.

If you mean "breaking it up?"  Then, no.  I had refurbed the case, fixed diode D800 on motherboard, put a Rev8 WD SCSI contract roller in after swapping the CIAs out with a no-go on the SCSI erecting HDDs properly; replaced the FDD, and PSU (first one gave up the ghost, so there is another PSU waiting along with a half slot SCSI card. The Amber circuit also only does HiRes with a green tint -- not chip fixable. There had been battery damage that popped the Amber circuit and may be responsible for the SCSI onboard weirdness, but has 16 MB RAM, and on occasion works "well enough" but it is up for sale with first dibs to "desanti."
