Amiga Hardware Database down
« on: May 22, 2013, 08:54:38 PM »
Has anyone else been having problems with the Hardware Database at http://amiga.resource.cx/

I keep getting a server reset error.  Tried pinging and no luck either.

Sometime around 2007, I spidered the site and made a fairly complete offline backup. If it stays down much longer, I will go looking for my archive in a mess of backup disks from years ago. I would be willing to share my archive but I would like some consent from the site owners if possible. I don't know if it is but I should at least try to contact them.
A2500 owned since 1993 with A2630/DKB 2632, DKB Megachip, GVP EGS Spectrum, A2320 and GVP HC+8 on the inside and a DCTV on the outside. A4000D with CSPPC, Cybervision 64 and a Flicker Magic flicker fixer. A4000T Toaster Flyer & CSMKII. All systems completly retro and classic and mostly used to do geometic art as in my avatar.

I made a backup of the entire site about a year ago, and I still keep it. So if anyone wants to revive it, just let me know and I will send it his/her way.

Anyway, hope it is not really dead,

I've tried to get in contact with the owner/maintainer for the past months.

I could host a mirror under BBoAH.

I can host it too - it's a few GBs in total I guess ?

More than one mirror would be useful, I suppose :-)

The latest Wayback snapshots seem to have the disk images, too. At least that one I tried to download with success.

Hmmm, methinks I shall spider the entire site (Text, pics and disk images) later tonight.

Seems to be hosted at the Deak Ferenc County Library in Hungary.
A few mirrors would not be bad.

doing a wget -m now just to see how that works.

It's a Perl site - so we'd probably need a full access mirror to serve it up properly from somewhere else. WGet will definitely get you images, HTML pages and probably the disk files though :-)

Did anyone get an answer from the site owner ? As previously mentioned, it would be nice to get a dialogue going and some permissions for mirroring, etc.

I used to be in contact with him several years ago. Then about two years ago he stopped responding and the mailbox became full. Not sure what happened. However, He gave me permission to port his content over the Retro Game and Computer (RetroGameAndComputer.com)

I got most ported over, but stopped working on the site in 2012 when I could not cover the hosting fees. I am back now and with the help of others, we are filling in the missing holes.

For those who miss the Amiga Hardware Database, please take a look at my site. Regards.
