trying for that old A500 Feel
« on: May 21, 2013, 01:16:09 AM »
i use dto have an old A500 w/ the Turbo HDD kit that added (ohh god its been Years! like since 2005 old) i Belive 2 or 4MB  Ram (i dont recall fast or slow) at first the HDD gave out so i was reduced at that time to Just boot up floppies as i got the system w/ only Workbench on the HDD not by bootup floppy

now im looking at converting my spare system (was running windows server 2012 but it was for a MC server and its been deserted for awhile no one wants on it .) to use AROS im going to see if i can get someone to make a  Mockup face cover for my pc case (so that w/ it and a lil creative painting) it'll [cheapily] look somewhat like a bulky A500, (just astethics wise)

to play some old games i have (plus what i can get thru Amiga Forever. (as i purchased 2012 ) im curious.. Will Aros be better? or stay w/ say putting a slimmed down windows 7, and have it auto-boot into WinUAE? or something like those hosted Amiga OS's that resemble 3.1? (amithlon or the like)?

is it possible to use a USB floppydrive w/ ADF's written to it ? (or atleast if not as a raw actual formatted amiga floppy) as a floppy containing the said adf as just a file? (only applicable to single floppy games i know i'd haveto probbly get a special kit for Actual amiga floppies.))

and for anyone Curious to "Miss my old A500" or Why dont i just use it? well back when i lost that home when i still had it,  i Swore to god i packed it up  along what wa sleft w/ the HDD kit  but sadly i didnt realise it till after midnight on teh last day (which after they changed the locks on us) that it was no where to be found and had to be in the house still.

i saw that the now revived commodore USA page has some "Nostalgic" case systems (Vic-20, C64) but they were specalised modern x86/x86-64 systems) kinda like this : http://www.thegadgetguycolumn.com/commodore-resurges-business-with-modern-computing-the-amiga-all-in-one/ saddly i cant find anywhere to buy that. looks like an A500 w/ an intergrated Cd/DVD Drive.

Try Amikit, it is pretty good.  I put it on a machine running XP, and I was impressed.  I wish there was an ECS version for real Amiga.  I know there is an AGA version for real Amiga.  It works fine on my XP machine.
