Jim Sachs Amiga Videos - Amazing 20KL video!
« on: May 08, 2013, 12:38:05 AM »
The amazing artist and Amiga user Jim Sachs has posted some videos that some his work on the Amiga (and other items).

Do yourself a favor and watch 20KL Late.  It is one of the most amazing Amiga games/demos I've ever seen.  Even 25-ish years later, it looks great.  Trust me, you will see this and wish it had been released.

I knew Jim was working on this game and that it was cancelled.  I didn't remember why but with a budget of $4 million dollars, I can see why Disney bulked.

However, the game would have been amazing.  I always thought Defender of the Crown had great graphics but you can clearly see how much Jim advanced from that to 20KL Late.

I believe Jim Sachs is one of the most talented people in technology.  He is a great artist, composer, programmer, and director.  He always made the Amiga look great!

You can see his channel here:

If you haven't seen 20KL Late you are in for a real treat!

Enjoy!

Did you guys know that Jim Sachs is now a multimillionaire? I told the story somewhere on here before. I cant remember if it was a mobile application or what it was that blew him up. But he's a real amiga hero!

You'd need at least 100Mil to have even a small hope in hell of resurrecting the Amiga! I've spent far too much time thinking about how this could be done but I dont have access to even 1Mil, let alone 100Mil +. :(

What a master.  To think that I only wished I had the next piece of gear to "finally be able to do good quality work" and this guy was blowing it away with stock Amiga chipsets.

I use this sort of work as a lesson: it's not your tools, it's what you do with them.
Music I've made using Amigas and other retro-instruments: http://theovoids.bandcamp.com

150% correct man. Especially as a visual artist the classic amiga platform STILL is viable today. Whats funny is a lot of modern designers are trying to replicate the retro 8bit/16bit look.

C=USA came to "rescue the Amiga" on a small budget and fell flat on it's face.  You can't "rescue the Amiga" on a tight budget.  To produce a "Modern Amiga," whatever that may be, would cost tens of millions.  And given the current audience here, 99% of them would disagree with you on whether it is a "Modern Amiga" after you finished.
