Blizzard 2060 CDFS software issues
« on: February 01, 2004, 12:53:27 AM »
Hi All,
I recently acquired a Blizzard 2060 Accelerator and HD controller combo for my A-2000.  It was at first unknown to me that the 2060 software included a CDFS.  Originally I had been using the old ver. 2 of Asim CDFS.  I later noticed conflicts between the two pieces of software.  Also I have noticed that my OS 3.9 has something called Cache CDFS.  I recently corrupted the OS and had to do a re-install.  Now the Cache CDFS of the OS 3.9 and the Ami CDFS that is part of the Blizzard 2060 software are both on the machine.  This may be part of my problem in terms of a conflict.  I have used the Blizzard's SCSI Tools to look at and see that all the CD drives in my external SCSI tower are there.  That is as far as I can get though.  I can't see them on my Workbench screen and I can't access them with Opus.  Before I corrupted the OS I could see at least one CD drive and access it.  At one point in my quest I was seeing two representations of one drive on the workbench screen.  My questions here are which CDFS software should I use, how do I get rid of the other and will it work with BurnIt which I intend to buy so I can use my CD burner drive.  Cache CDFS says that CD0 is mounted but it sure doesn't show up.  Also I want to see more than one CD drive.  I have four in the tower and would like to be able to access them all.  I would sure appreciate hearing from anyone that has the Blizzard 2060 board runing in a 2000 with a similar set up.

You'll need to know the correct device and unit numbers of your drives.  It sounds like you've got this from the Blizzard SCSI Tools.

Then you'll need to check the file DEVS:DOSDrivers/CD0. There's either a setting in the ToolTypes, or the file itself to change the device and unit. With multiple CD drives, just clone CD0 under a new name and change the unit again.

I think BurnIt doesn't depend on a CDFS, and accesses drives directly via device and unit number (that's how MakeCD works, at least).

If this isn't clear, let me know, I'll try to elaborate.

I think the filesystem was something called ZD0 and was warmly recommended to the bin as rudimentary/outdated  by some mag test. I got AmiCDFS and then CacheCDFS with OS upgrades.

Hi,
You can use both file systems. Just make sure you have one copy "CD0" in one place, and the other one some place else. make sure niether mount on boot.

Chris

PS: updates for AsimCDFS are still on the old website.

Do you happen to have the URL for the old website?
