CUSA down?
« on: April 21, 2013, 08:53:15 PM »
CUSA's website has been down for a couple of days now (that I know of). Has it ended?
I was finally thinking of getting (and saving up for) a 64 barebones.

You could try: http://en.amibyte.com/

but I've no idea what the status is here, other than this was posted quite some time after Barry passed away.

I wonder if Barry's estate even still control the Commodore and Amiga IP's, I suppose depending on the license agreement these could have possibly defaulted back to the parent company's.

Thanks for that, I've dropped them a mail to see if it's still available. 400 euros though, that's a worse exchange than dollars.

It has been suggested by some that this business is just clearing out old inventory. However, they were part of a deal made while CUSA was still active:

Thought you might be interested to know what was written.

You can get a c64 on ebay for 30 or 40 bucks. Add the pc keyboard adapter from amigakit, your own motherboard... Thats what I would do if I wanted a c64 pc...

@ Dr Bongo:

Be careful.  Assuming this dealer actually has some in stock (because there appears to be cases of people who have ordered and paid for computers and not received them), you might be paying a high price for something that is going to be sold "as is" with no chance of a replacement if it goes wrong.

That said, it might turn out to be a collectors item in the future and 10 years from now you might sell it on eBay for $5000.
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.

I wonder if they ever sold the C= Amiga mini case (http://en.amibyte.com/index.php/new-commodore-amiga-mini.html) seperate. I wouldn't have minded something like that to put my Sam440ep-mini into.

You can't even update Commodore OS now..
There was only two things I liked from them..

1 C64x(I wouldn't buy one to pricey,I have a c64 Keyrah now,thanks to Cheese on the Commodore-Amiga Forum)
2 Commodore OS (still a 32 bit version out and being updated,I made a copy of it so it would work on 32bit and to see how easy it was, something to do I suppose.lol)
When they started doing Amiga's it was getting to be abit of a joke.(Pc in a chinees pc case with a Amiga,C= Badges on)..mmm

What going to happen to C= OS Now..??

I think the case is just a rebadged Wesena (Streacom) F1C.  Rylun have them in Australia for about $90...

In fact, looking at those photos, they're identical to the streacom photos, just with commodore logos added :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I will have to look into it a bit more.

It would have been nice to get the embossed AMIGA logo on the front of it. Wasn't to fussed on the Commodore logo though.

It's just Linux Mint using Gnome 2 with some Compiz effects etc. (http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=commodore).

If you are that keen there is nothing to stop you from grabbing Linux Mint with the Mate desktop and taking the existing customisations and applying the to the newer versions of Linux Mint. Linux Mint comes in 32bit and 64bit flavours.
