OS3.9 BoingBag 1 problem
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:04:55 PM »
Hello.

I have installed OS3.9 and when trying install BB1, this message appears " This update needs AmigaOS 3.9 Please install it first!
This update is not intended for AmigaOS 3.5!" and then click proseed installer closes.

I downloaded BB1 from http://os.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=en&page=12 and extract with latest LHA.run 2.12 no problem.

I have tryid some installers like: Installer 43_3 and InstallerNg, without success.

Cant figure why it thinks its 3.5, but really it's 3.9

Any idea what to do?

Is the amigaos 3.9 disk a retail or is it from the amithlon disk?

I had the same problem with a retail disk bought from amiga hut but can't for the life of me remember what I did to correct it.

The BB1/BB2 installation checks version.library.
Apparently your version is incorrect. Try and copy the version.library from the OS3.9 CD and repeat the installation of BB1.

Don't some of those discs come with BB1 installed already?

It's some older disc version with no BB1.

I copied version.library from cd to Libs. Now BB1 goes about 30%, but then it ask 3.9 cd and nothing happens when  click proseed? Something wrong with the cd? or i've not installed OS  perfectly?  As was said in another forum:

"I checked out that OS3.9's CD version is 45.1 and OS3.5 in the 44.5.  So, you got no bottom now, at least not completely install OS3.9: s, but  at least for version.libraryn that you've got OS3.5.

OS3.9's will also include OS3.5 ... I do not remember whether it has to  be installed as an intermediate step, or why, but the part you got  missed during the installation or become accidentally installed an  earlier version of the second?"

Could it be that you somehow managed to install Boingbag1 for OS 3.5 to your disk? This surely downgraded many components which are now needed in their 3.9 version as prerequisite.

IMHO you should install OS 3.9 again so that all components are at 3.9 level. Then BB1 for OS 3.9 should install successfully.

Hi

From what I remember,  the lha archive for the boing bag is password protected and it's unlocked by the check of the 3.9 cd. If it's getting stuck at that part,  your cd is failing the check for some reason. I can't remember what is specifically checking for though.

cheers

Snoopdos or dostrace could reveal what's checked. Or starting the script with and looking where the script halts.

Everything is working now, i've  installed 3.9 "properly" this time. All Bags installed nicely.
