Miami Init won't recognize my 3c589.device
« on: March 16, 2013, 07:35:20 PM »
Hi All,

I had this working a few months ago but put everything away.  Now that I have dragged it out again I am not able to connect.  I live in a small two bedroom condo with my wife and daughter, there just no room to have my Amiga up permanently, in case you wondered, otherwise believe me I would.  Etherlink III is connected to Amiga, then to the net, everything else off this router working fine.  But the Miami Init says it can't find my .device file, it might be busy.  Last time I started my A1200 if found everything okay (I have to put it in a closet when I am done).  Any help would be appreciated.  I know there is another fellow on here with a similar problem, he is using Net Connect with the same set up as mine. All I can say is Miami works very well and pretty easily when it works, you might try switching.

For 3c589.device you also need pccard.library on LIBS folder.

I also tried setting up one of these EtherLink III cards on my A1200 a few days ago and although the device seems to open OK and Miami even says it's "online" I can't connect to anything. I can ping the local ip but can't get through to my router or anywhere else. I double checked the ip address, netmask and gateway and it all seems good. I only have a stock 2MB machine atm but even so it should work though memory is very low. My etherlink III is one with a 10baseT ethernet and modem built in and the card definately works as I tested it on an old PC laptop and it connects just fine.

Worth a shot, but when I installed the 3c589.device, it copied it over on networks/3c589.device.

so when I ran Miami Init, had to type in networks/3c589.device, and it picked it up.

Not sure what else it could be that Miami isn't picking it up.
