I know exactly 10000% what you mean.

That is why I bought a 2nd monitor for watching movies.  It is a 61" DLP monitor.  It is also an LED monitor because it uses an LED lightsource.  But it does not use LCD technology.  Instead it has a special Digital Light Processor chip.

If u need a big monitor for watching movies then by all means get a BIG monitor (50"+) not some itsy bitsy teensy weensy 22" monitor.

The closest thing you can get is a ViewSonic Ultrabrite A90f+ 19" CRT monitor.  Its what I am typing on right now.  It uses advanced CRT technology so all your pixels change instantaneously and it uses hardware to change the size of the pixels so that it can display all those Amiga gfx modes. Of course it works with PAL and NTSC.   BUT it only accepts signals of 31.5Khz + so you need a FlickerFixer for your Amiga.  The only FlickerFixers I can recommend for A1200 are ScanMagic FlickerFixer Internal Version or ScanJuggler XAGA internal version.

What is your recommendation toward Indivision? Can I use that for the monitor you specified?

Update: Oh I see. Where can I get ScanMagic FlickerFixer or ScanJuggler XAGA?

ScanJuggler is not released yet.  Please wait 1-3 months.  There was an article about it on some Hungarian forum or magazine or something.  I am sure that casting a Google spell with "ScanJuggler XAGA" parameters will find u some good infos about it. :)

ScanMagic is an awesome flickerfixer from 1990s.  Hasn't been made since forever.  But I see them for sale used sometimes.  I have used mine for a zillion hours since 1990s and it still works perfectly.

Have had no issues with the second version of the Indi AGA. There is no config tool for it but that isn't a big issue.

Looks fantastic, very clear. Also noted is that colours have more pop, more vibrant.

Couldn't live without it now that I've had one. Have it connected with my 24" Dell LCD and workbench looks amazing.

No issues with games either, I can see more detail in most. Many hours spent playing naughty ones and super methane brothers :-)

@novacoder

dropbox and rest of your releases are only playable with 80mhz or people with 040/40mhz, 060/50mhz can run it at aceptable speed?

Hiya,

I generally only code for hardware that I can physically test it on myself.

I used to have an 030 so wrote a few ports that targeted 030 but now that I've upgraded to an 060 I'm only going to do 060 ports.

The Indy Mrk2 does have it's problems (which hopefully will be fixed before we all die of old age) but it can produce a fantastic output, it basically looks like an RTG card.

Watch this little video in HD and you'll see what I'm Nice display

The main issue I have with my Mrk2 is lack of 50Hz support.

Looking good! It does look very much like an RTG card, my only issue with it is that the Indi ECS has the RTG drivers which I used with Doom.

The mk2 also operates in a similar way as the indi ecs so hoping that someone out there will have a go at making the RTG mode work :-(

An interesting item about DLP vs LCD... http://plasmatvbuyingguide.com/lcdtv.html

That article is a bunch of nonsense and should be ignored.

They keep saying "Advantage LCD" but when you read the fine print it admits that the Advantage is actually to the DLP.

Then they flat out lied about the color saturation.  My DLP has megafantastic color saturation similar to a properly tuned 1084S.  It makes videogames look unbelievably awesome.  Vastly superior to any LCD.

I have compared many LCD monitors side by side with my DLP.  For example having multiplayer Dead Island parties.  The DLP always looks very noticeably better.  Everyone always wants to come to my house to play games.

Another dumb thing about the article is saying that DLPs have colorwheels?  Say what?  That was an ancient obsolete technology used a long long time ago.  I bought my DLP 4.5 years ago and it has no color wheel.  Obviously you should not buy a monitor with a colorwheel.  As long as you buy any normal random DLP monitor it won't have a colorwheel and will have a great picture.  The only way to get a better picture for movies or videogames is to get a plasma.

The only advantage an LCD monitor has for the consumer is for reading static nonmoving text on a webpage which has been rendered specifically to the native resolution of the LCD monitor.  Other than that one use, LCDs are really a ripoff.  LCDs exist to benefit the corporation, not the consumer.  For gaming and movie watching you are always better off with either a Plasma, DLP or CRT monitor.

I wouldn't mind buying a giant 60" LCD monitor specifically for writing code.  But that's all.  Movies look much worse on LCD.  Games look much worse on LCD.

My brother has bought many LCD monitors from Best Buy, brought them to my house, hooked them up next to my DLP and then said "HOLY CRAP!  THIS LOOKS HORRIBLE!" and then he takes them back and gets a refund.

Common LCD Problems:
Everything looks super blocky and jagged all the time.

A lot of them cannot show a BLACK color.  All they manage is a dark grey.  Its really awful.

Lame viewing angle.  If you are outside the viewing angle the picture turns to crap.

Weird fringing fx when certain pixels change from certain colors to other "far away" colors.

Smaller sizes.

Costs more per inch.  (I haven't checked the prices in over a year so this could have changed by now)

Drinks more electricity per inch.

Generates more heat per inch.

Sometimes a pixel will burn out. (Dead Pixel Syndrome).  This is really awful and I never saw it happen on any CRT, DLP or Plasma monitor.  Why buy a defective unreliable product when there are so many other better products to choose from?

That's the one.  I want the full version because The Lite version does not support AGA 1280x512 mode and does not eliminate flicker.  Lite version is not a flickerfixer, just a scandoubler.

DLP is an obsolete technology these days. Not sure what LCD's you've been using but that's not the case anymore, perhaps on older LCD's but technology has moved on since DLP was around.

There are also many different styles of LCD, LED and even OLED. All far better, then there's plasma which use to have better blacks than LCD's but not these days.

Both are as good as each other with current tech.

With 4k and 8k screens on the way time to drop the DLP and move on. But anyway this is OT so back to 060 @ 80MHz awesomeness :-)

I have one question I want to ask. My item when it arrives it is going to come with a a little cooling system (maybe a fan) installed on top of the CPU. Do I need to raise the Amiga at a certain height away from the table to get the correct ventilation running? If so, can I buy it from AmigaKit and what is it called?

Thanks in advance.

You can if you want but I don't think you really need to for cooling (I've never bothered), it also looks ugly when you raise the case.   Just check to make sure the FAN/RAM isn't hitting the desk.

Do not install the trap door cover, instead you should use a drop of hot-glue to keep your card stable in the case.
