FS: Amiga 500+ with the lot!
« on: February 28, 2013, 02:38:59 AM »
Hi All, SWMBO said I had to sell one of my Amiga's to fund my recent a1200 purchase so Im putting my 500+ up for sale. it's almost as pimped out as is possible for a 500+ and Im asking for $299aud + Shipping (will negotiate a little).

Im only offering it to Australians atm because shipping OS is just too expensive.

My 500+ comes equipped as follows:

  • Dual switchable KickStart Rom 1.3/3.1 (switch on the back)
  • WorkBench 3.1 including NOS Disks (never been used)
  • ClassicWB 68k installed on CF-HDD with tons of WHDLoad Games & Demos
  • Motorola 68010 CPU (enables quit keys in WHDLoad)
  • Genuine Rev8a Motherboard with 1MB Chip-Ram on board
  • 2MB Chip-Ram
  • 8MB Autoconfig Fast-Ram (from Kipper2k)
  • IDE68K with 4GB CF-HDD (CF Card removable from the rear of 500+)
  • NOS Tank Mouse (basically brand new and used only a few times)
  • British Qwerty Keyboard
  • Does NOT include a PSU, Just 500+ & tank Mouse

What board is that between the 68000 socket and the IDE68k?

That's Kippers CPU Adapter:

http://kipper2k.com/amigaforsale/

Quote
This adapter will relocate the A500 fastmem board further back in the A500 to allow easier closing of the case and also allow the addition of the IDE68k

Basically you cant install the Fast Ram board + IDE68k in the normal location and still install the keyboard - this board moves everything to were there is more space. :)

What's the splitter on the floppy drive power for?  Also, I like the heatsinks on everything.  ;)

I was playing about with SATA at one point and decided to leave the extra power connector there just in case I wanted to play with something else needing power. :)

Cheers, Heat sinks imo can only help the major chips live longer.

Awesome.  I need EXACTLY something his 68k adapters this for my own A500 project.  I have an A500+ I want to install a Derringer 030/50 and an AdIDE.  Was also thinking installing another Derringer in my 1000 with another AdIDE and Kickstart Switcher.  Thanks!

God what a beautiful machine. If I ever wanted another A500 it would be this one (wish it had a US keyboard instead however). I have too much invested in Amigas right now to buy another for $300USD. I already have a BPPC 060/PPC towerized A1200 dual booting into 3.1 and 4.1 and an A4000D that is heavily upgraded (both with mediators for example). I also have a few more A1200 mobos with two in desktop cases. So, yeah, I don't have space for much of this.

Thanks for kind words, I'd happily keep it but apparently I don't "need two a500's" - failing to see the logic of this myself! :D

Great setup there djos !
A couple'o'questions if you don't mind.
I see you have kippers cpu adapter board. I plan on having almost the same setup in my A500 (without the removable cf card though). How did you manage to install the cpu board ? Did you remove the capacitor near the Paula chip (C307 on A500 rev 6a) ? I see your ide68k is in the back. Where exactly ? Under Kippers RAM board or ... ? I plan on having Kippers board away back (the same location you have it) but leave ide68k board in front of the cpu adapter board.

Howdy, yes the Cap on the rev8a boards is quite Large (on Rev6a boards it's much shorter and doesnt get in the way) so I simply removed it and soldered on some longer Legs so I could lay it down on its side. Ignore the wire colours, I wasnt paying enuf attention and didnt realise I'd swapped the colours around the wrong way till I went to install it. :p Luckily wire colours dont have any special electrical properties! :D

In the pic a few posts back you can see the board the CPU is sitting on, that's the IDE68k and the IDE connector is on the far side - the IDE68k is sitting on top of the 8mb ram board which is sitting on top of the CPU adapter board.

Btw if the Buyer wants them, I have an entire replacement Cap kit that Im willing to include in the price that I just never got around to installing.

Oh one more thing, the 1mb expansion board shown in the pics has been replaced with a new expansion board as it was faulty, the new board is a prototype 1MB/2MB board I was working on with TomThul - it can also have a lithium battery installed to make a RAD disk.

It's currently set to 1mb mode (via jumpers) as we never got the 2mb mode working - the idea was to use the 2mb Agnus chips from a3000's in Rev6a boards to get 2mb chip-ram. The idea was that you would disable to onboard 512k ram and apply the trapdoor chip-mem mod but the Rev6a boards could never see the extra 1mb ram for some reason.

The board works 100% perfectly as a 1mb expansion tho. :)
