You've got too much Amiga stuff when...
« on: February 19, 2013, 05:07:18 AM »
You randomly find cool stuff in your own house.

I was looking for a motherboard, digging through A2000's when I came across:
Microway Flickerfixer
Commodore A2630 w/68882
Toaster 4000
Flyer
2 Octopus cables

If Mechy and Dan Beaver weren't cleaning me out now and then, I'm pretty sure I'd have been on the Amiga episode of Hoarders by now.

Heh heh. I recently purchased a couple of TBC cards from Dan... so more room at his house now.

Haha, it wouldn't surprise me if there was an episode of Amiga hoarders and all the people on this board converged on the set of the show to try and bargain and persuade the guy to let go of some of his hardware for sub-ebay prices.

Haha, so true, some people just can't help themselves.  So where are they taping that episode anyway? ;)

Oh yeah, speaking of TBC's, I even found the Kitchen Sync.  No cables unfortunately, just the card.  I completely forgot I had that thing.

Dan was good enough to include manuals and everything with the old TBCs. In the coming weeks I will find the time to install those and see about acquiring some of my old 8mm and Hi8 camcorder footage from years ago. Also have a log of miniDV footage, but I can probably get by without TBC for that.

Also finding I can record material to a standalone DVD recorder and the resulting digital footage is as stable as it gets. No surprise there, I guess, but worth noting for anybody looking for an easy way.

I've been on the lookout for an A3000 keyboard for the last few years, I even tried bidding on a couple on ebay only to lose out to crazy prices. Last week I ordered a 5 pin DIN > PS2 converter so I can use an A4000 keyboard. Later that day I'm digging through my storage for an A4000 keyboard (you're way ahead of me aren't you!) only to find I already had an A3000 keyboard in immaculate condition. Where'd that come from?! I love digging through my storage, it's like my own personal xmas LOL.

Wow!  I thought I had a lot of stuff (I recently sold a lot of it on eBay though).  But to find a flickerfixer and an 030 card, a Flyer, etc. etc. --- some of the most desired Amiga stuff ---- as spares!

I cleaned out a warehouse a few years back and had so much that I used A2000's as boxes to hold some of the cards.  I just packed them carefully in the cases to keep them safe, but it makes them hard to see what's in there.

At the time I knew I had most of this stuff but I didn't exactly inventory it.

I don't remember that flicker fixer or 030 at all though.
