Hello everyone

I just bought an item from ebay, and am trying to complete the transaction. However, I have come up with a HUGE snag... Whenever I try to complete the payment, I am confronted with a message of "Expanded Use Number", it then asks for a four digit number which apparently is on my credit card statrement next to my "$1.92" charge. WTF?! There is no such thing here! Does anyone know how to find this number out? I don't want any negatives next to my account on ebay. What do I do?!

Any help would be most welcome.

I had a problem with that aswell. THe cash was taken directly from my account so there was no four-digit number. Needless to say, I've never used paypal after that... :-x

Right first thing - explain your situation to the seller, as someone who sells on ebay from time to time, I know that its nice to get sincere and regular communications from the buyer should any problems arise.
Secondly, I presume you've looked at your CC statement? It was a long time ago, but there should be a number there.....

you should be able to complete the transaction without it. You just wont get you $1.92 back

Have written to him twice, but he hasn't replied just yet.

So you're saying that the number which was given to me ages ago, should still be there? i.e. the same number to be entered?

But my on-line CC thingy, only goes back like 3months... :-(

Hello mates,

Had same problem, but finally got it fixed...just do this...

send the following info to: scaninfo@paypal.com

a) account papers where it shows the 1.95 USD being charged.
b) front+back of visacard, you may cross out most digits, i did this and was ok with them. They just need i think the first four digits from it.
c) scan of photo ID card.

and tell them to hurry... it took them 3-5 days in my case and it worked.

Does this number which has the Use number, is it the Paypal Member Number... or the "##9999" number?

Basically I have three options?

I was reading here and it looks (imo) that they're referring to a number next to the charge on your credit card statement.

If you have got a four digit number as in XXXX next to the 1.95 USD charge, then that's it!!!

The big fuzz is that if I enter the wrong number, then my Paypal account is closed. That's why I am doing bricks at the moment. :-o
