Are you kidding? Those things are friggin' awesome! Old people do the funniest **** in those things. Things like driving them on highways with the cars. It's funny because they don't need to be registered or need a licence to drive one.
I once saw an elderly man in a motorised scooter scream across the main road in rush hour at maybe 30 kph narrowly being hit by the oncoming cars because he didn't want to wait for the lights to change colour before crossing. I'm serious, it was like watching Frogger in real life!
In the Uk they have to be taxed and insured to be able to go onto the road if they are that powerful. The little shopping scooters don't because they technically are not powerful enough to keep up with traffic and so are banned from the road. While the scenario you describe does sound entertaining that is another point the windes me up about some people on those scooters.
Some of them are just insane. I mean really missing some brain cells in order to do some of the crazy stuff I have seen. I have been nearly killed on numerous occasions because some people feel they have different rules to everyone ese when they are in them.

Oh it's also possible to be caught drink driving with one. I found that highly ammusing when I saw a policeman pull someone over for been over the legal limit to operate it.
