GB1000 - talk to me.
« on: January 20, 2013, 08:53:01 PM »
Years ago I started collecting parts to put together a GB1000 board but one never came on the market.

Are the original eagle files still available for the 030 version? I understand the author did a 060 improved version for which he won't release the files. I'm guessing this is down to someone dumping a load of his files on Aminet.

The alternative is to do my own based around an ATX format but that would take some time as apposed to doing a new run of his fantastic board. Just wondering what you guys know before I approach the rather clever chap that designed these.

I'd never heard of this board before reading this thread, I did some Googling and found this link:

It's a very interesting project.

The biggest pain in the arse is that the one of the builders made a website and its since been removed. The schematics are great it's just that eagle file that's needed.

I could be wrong but I thought Mechy might have been working on one of these.

The files are not publicly available. I'm aware there were 30-50 GB1000 boards produced by the efforts member Kristian95 back in mid 2008 with permission from Georg. You might send Kristain95 a PM and see if he can help further, but I see he hasn't logged in here in over a year now.

This is just my own opinion, but I don't think Georg appreciated all the attention and questions he was getting over this project and didn't want a flood of more people looking for support if large numbers of boards were made.

Ah, here we go. This tells much of the tale.....

Yes PJM are right, Georg Braun made a new one, with a 060 socketed directly on the motherboard.

The files were hosted on a dedicated gb1000 website which is gone. I'll contact the original group buy organiser.

I have two boards that I purchased when Kristian95 produced them in sept 2008.  After getting them and reading what was required I realized I did not have the skills to gather all the parts and put it together myself.  I paid 75.96 for the pair including shipping.  I'd love to put them in the hands of someone that would actually build them.  $85 for the pair or $50 for one (shipping included.)

I'm not sure the files were hosted there. I looked once and they were not, the website owner seemed not able to get them at that point.

Link to pix?? I'd love to see... His website only seems to show the 030 motherboard and 060 turbo card.

Just go on a1k.org and in the A1000/Phoneix forum where you will find the latest 060 boards arriving. Typical a couple of boards become available in my thread whilst I'm asleep! I could really use one to study if I have to design my own board. If that happens then it will be more likely a2000 based or ATX depending on preference.

Hi guys,
It looks like PJM is interested in a GB1000 but he might have missed out on one offered by bwperez. It would be a nice gesture if he could be given a chance to get one, if he hadn't started the thread there probably wouldn't have been the offer by bwperez.

Id be interested in one of these boards as well. Its quite stunning that the original guy wont give out the specs/docs I mean this is an Amiga project. It should be about the community. This board could maybe be produced in a small number and revitalize some part of the classic market.
