A500 power packs
« on: January 26, 2004, 10:36:18 PM »
I have two A500 PSUs here. One is made in China and weighs a ton (and is verrrry yellow), the other is made in Germany and weighs a lot less and isn't so yellow (i.e. I guess its more modern)

Now, the Chinese one is marked 60W output, but the German one does not have the output marked. Is it likely to be a 50W unit?
Sorry for the banal question, but I sure don't fancy poking multimeter probes in there!

Okay..take the lids off both PS and plug them in. Then, stick your fingers in there and touch something. If you get less of a shock from the German one, it's probably a 50W. If you get an equal shock, they're probably both 60Ws. If you get a BIG jolt...it's probably an A4000 power supply.

Hope that helps. :-P  :-P  :-P

LOL If he's afraid to stick multimeter probes in there, I'm SURE he wouldn't be sticking his fingers in them.

Seriously though, are there any sort of markings that you can see on the German PS, Cyberus? Maybe you can do a cross-reference on the net or something.
