That's about the going rate for these machines, so no, it's not crazy.  The silver label machines are about as rare as the Boing Ball logo A1000's.

And the difference with people paying good money for obsolete Amiga hardware is what....? Just as crazy to pay 500EUR plus for Phase 5 PPC hardware as it is to pay 600 EUR for rare (apparently) C64 hardware.

Yes, I am.  Out of millions of C64 machines sold there were about 30,000 produced with the original "buggy" hardware.  Commodore unofficially recalled these machines due to the "sparkle" problem, and replaced the motherboard with the final fix (after 3 attempts).  To find a silver label with the original Rev A/B/C motherboard is extremely rare.  But what would I know, I own #00002126.  :)

If someone has one of the original Boing Ball A1000s that they want to sell for the normal going rate for an A1000, please let me know!  :)

Yeah, I'm with you on that one.
The C64 had some neat features, but I never liked 6502 based processors.

And the previously mentioned Lisa?
Only Apple could produce a machine so bad that it nearly killed a combination that goes together like cookies and milk, the 68K processor and the GUI.

You are totally wrong :pissed Its people like you that keeps prices artificially high and take all the joy and fun out of vintage computing . :destroy:,It wouldn't surprise me if you and your buddy put this ridiculous listing on RIP-OFF-BAY . A 30 year old computer that has bugs in the hardware and does not work ?? This sort of listing is killing our scene. Don't you get it? The more people jack up the price to Ridiculous amounts of money fewer people will buy and the more people will leave the scene.

Come on you are insane and a complete twonk , it just justifies making a quick buck out of fair and good hard work people out there ,that are into this great scene. You make me sick and I feel like selling my second A4000 in mint condition for 50 quid just to make a point that idiots like you exist...Rant over:angel:

The wife told him to sell it, it's obvious.

Id say nigerian scammers or such. But most likely people buy stuff on e-bay at a fair price or get a low bid price and then re-list it for stupid money.
Arab sheiks need only apply.

Going to be cheeky... sold ;-)

I have to agree with you though. I'd love to get into the Amiga scene more, but as I've discovered prices are inflated artificially high.

Items selling on ebay that are for a good price get snapped up quickly by a select few and then relisted on ebay for twice the price.

Some people hold on to 5 or 6 of the same item, which also forces the price up and makes things seem rarer than what they're.

On our local auction site it's pointless bidding on items as there is one person on there that bids on everything forcing the price higher than what other people can afford and then relists them again for an even higher price.

There a couple of good people in the scene though that want to see more people get involved or find the youth again. (In my case nostalgia).

But for Amigas and accelerator cards it's hardwork.

"The more people jack up the price to Ridiculous amounts of money fewer  people will buy and the more people will leave the scene."

That statement is a contradiction in itself. So what you're saying is that sellers will sell their hardware at extortionate prices, yet no one will buy them due to the extortionate price? The truth is people ARE buying crappy old hardware, and at extortionate prices. If the price ever becomes TOO high, these extortionists will be forced to lower the price to a more affordable level.

I'm with JimDrew. If it's rare, then it's naturally worth more. And further to this, this increased price helps preserve rare hardware...meaning it ends up in the hands of collectors who will care for it.

That's rubbish I know four good friends who love the Amiga and have quit the scene as the prices are just too expensive to continue getting new old stuff. So your wrong.

Its People like you who want to justify making a quick buck out good hard working people like me, who  just want a normal hobbie. Its people like you that try to make it into some exclusive scene by charging extortionate prices. you take all the joy and fun out of it.Likewise I know friends who have owned Amiga's in the past and have taken one look at the prices of RIP-OFF-BAY and run for the hills never to be seen again.

Case and point... The scene/ community what ever you want to call it will continue to hemorrhage people as prices are ridiculously expensive for any one new to join the scene.Lets face it we have all been heart broken  with consent broken promises from the various companies who have bought and sold Amiga over the years . Even the die hards like me, who got my first Amiga in 1987 and have invested thousands of pounds buying Amiga kit ever since will eventually fall by the way side. Who will replace us?

You are justifying :uzi:greed plane and simple

What a load of bollocks. If stuff is too expensive it doesn't sell. If it isn't too expensive then it does sell and apparently people are willing to pay stupid amounts for old stuff.

I think you've got the wrong person. I've never sold anything in my life. I've bought stuff, but I've never once sold anything, ever.
