Morph OS machine for sale
« on: October 22, 2012, 03:20:45 AM »
So I am moving back into the Linux world and I don't have room for 3 PC's upstairs. When I want to mess with Amiga stuff, I end up turning on the 1200 more often than not, so... time to make someone else happy.

Basically, I am looking to sell my Morph OS machine.

Hardware wise, it's a "MDD" Powermac G4. 1.2 ghz dual processor (but MOS only supports 1 anyways).
For RAM, there are 2x 512MB sticks and 1x 256 MB stick. There's an empty slot still.

I added a PCI USB card and a soundblaster live to her as well.

Everything works decently, though when the PCI USB is plugged in, only one of the two USB slots in the case works. Remove the card and both works. Who knows?

Software wise, this is the more interesting part, as the machine has Morph OS installed AND it's the licensed version that includes the keyfile. So no 30 minute reboot.

Only real drawback is that every now and again, I only get a grey screen when booting up. Hit the "three finger salute" to reboot and it'll reboot. It didn't do this when Mac OS was installed, so I imagine reinstalling MOS will fix it, but I don't want to bother with that.

I got the machine as a cheapie from an amiga.org member, so I am not looking for anything huge. The main value is of course the MOS license.

Make a decent offer or a trade for some classic amiga gear. Bear in mind these things are monstrously huge, so shipping will probably be expensive. A local pickup can obviously be arranged.

I'm in the process of renovating my A1200 myself.  I'm not willing to part with my classic hardware because I only have one classic system as it is.

My MorphOS machine won't even install MorphOS 3.0+.  I need a new MorphOS machine for development purposes although I don't know how often I'll get to use it.

Please look up what shipping would be to South Dakota and name a price.

@runequester

You only have three PCs and you're complaining about space?
Are you sure you're an Amiga user?

Ha!  That is a good reply Iggy!

Hey runequester, is that one of my dual 1.25GHz G4 MDD PowerMac's that I sold at the 2009, or 2010 AmiWest Show?  I originally had 7 of them and only kept one for myself.

I ended up buying a dual 1.42GHz G4 CPU card for mine and then traded my dual 1.25GHz G4 CPU card for a single 1.25GHz G4 CPU card, which I now have over-clocked to 1.58GHz and it is running faster and cooler than the dual 1.25GHz G4 CPU card when running MorphOS3.1.

I think that it is the best setup for MorphOS3.1, unless you have the money to spend on a 1.8GHz, or 2.0GHz G4 accelerator for the G4 PowerMac, but the accelerators for the MDD model are hard to find.

Good luck with your sale.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Samurai - it'll be 150 plus shipping (which is pretty much cost of license plus the 50 bucks I paid for the girl originally), but Haywire is checking first if he has the funds. I'll let you know once he decides.

Amigadave - This one came from Commodorejohn so I don't think it was yours :)

I'd LOVE to have it but I don't think I can raise the funds so I will step aside to the next person in line....

I just had my first child and as you can imagine, funds for things like this are on a tight leash.

Hopefully it finds a nice home...

Yeah our baby came like 3-1/2 weeks early, so I didn't really have the time to properly prepare for the whole thing. My wife literally almost popped the kid out in the car on the way to the hospital. We got there, no epidural, no prep just lay on this bed... pop! and out comes baby. It was pretty surreal.

I'm kinda squeamish, the nurses made me sit down because I turned white as a ghost and was kinda swaying in the breeze. hahaha.

If he doesn't take it, place me next in line.
I'll make a few changes and donate it to a worthwhile developer.
